Have a new savage hog hunter 308 and vortex viper 6-20x44 glass. Going to be a range rifle out to 200 yards, max my range has. Eventually looking to get a bell and carlson stock, and muzzle brake from the group buy section of this forum. What base would be stronger and give a edge to single loading with a possible sled in place of the magazine in the new stock.
I want something strong that will hold great. I will never shoot 600 or beyond so I don't need a 20 moa EGW, I live in Rhode Island the smallest state and we don,t have long ranges around.
If you recomend EGW what rings? I hear decent things on burris zee rings?
The dnz reaper seems cheaper about $70 and the EGW plus burris will come in around $90 does that seem ok, I would like to keep it below $100 to mount the glass but would like to do it right the first time!

I have heard the torque screws that come on weaver bases are far surperior to allen head screws on the EGW bases, i will look into these more, they must have a 0 moa base available too.

I've using DNZ on a Savage 10 for couple of years. Reg and 20moa "tactical" version lol. They are pretty nice if you want a one piece lightweight mount. Perfect for hunting rifle

One of my biggest reasons for using the Weaver Tactical, was the lower profile rear area of the rail. I want my scope/ring/rail profile as low as I can get it, and have it function as needed. The EGW, (unless you get the more expensive HD) is considerably higher profiled than the Weaver. Get what you want, but I know what works for me, and is priced right.

Roll some quarters :D
Precision Reflex bases have been working very well on my Savages. Their 0 moa base has a cutout that will be perfect for single loading. One of those and a set of used TPS rings will be rock solid and not terribly over budget.
