Hey Hide.

I have this savage model 12 that I never get out cause it’s just not my style. It’s chambered in 223, has an internal stagger feed magazine, and a heavy as hell unnecessarily long bill barrel. I’d like to bring it into the modern world. I am looking at buying either the Accurate Mag Savage Short Action Bottom Metal Kit: https://accurate-mag.com/shop/botto...er=No+Magazine&attribute_capacity=No+Magazine
Or the Atlasworxs bottom metal kit: https://atlasworxs.com/shop/atlasworxs-bottom-metal-dbm-aics-savage-model-10-11-12-sa/.

With either of these, I would plan on dremeling/routing the existing Boyd’s stock to fit the bottom metal flush.

My overall goal is to be able to run a detachable box magazine reliably in this setup. Eventually, I would also either get a new savage pre fit barrel, or send this one out for a chop to 20” and threading to run suppressed.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? Been done before? With success? Thanks in advance!

Just curious and not trying to start a ruckus, but if that particular model of Savage Model 12 is “ just not my style “, why did you procure it in the first place, especially considering the significant amount of modifications that will be necessary to have what you want?

This was my solution. Works flawlessly from an AI 223 mag
