So my buddy ordered a new Savage 10 FCP-K, should be at the dealer in a week.
I want to help him with purchasing and installing a scope rail.
Caliber is 308, Savage SKU 18608 my question: is this a long action or short?
Also this would be considered a "round back action" correct?

Thanks for the help. I don't know shit about Savage's and need your education!!

Thanks for all the input Gentlemen. I have had very good luck with EGW rails as well. But I can not deny the quality and heft of a Badger Ord. rail either!
The EGW rails are without a doubt the best bang for the buck though.

Nothing wrong with EGW, get the 20MOA and see how it fits...mount it, bed it if it needs to be...most don't...an EGW 20MOA should run you about $35 or so...the Badgers, the Seekins, the others are HIGH DOLLAR UNITS THAT WHILE ARE EXCELLENT CHOICES IMHO do not warrant the additional 2-3-4-5X price point...its a ROUND BACK SHORT ACTION...save your $$$ for GLASS/RELOADING COMPONENTS, STOCK UPGRADES (YOU WILL)

I think rings and bases are way to often over looked and having had issues in the past with budget bases and rings I am a firm believer in buying top quality items. IE badger or Seekins. It takes one more item off the list if you have an issue with accuracy. Yes they are more but if you spend a lot of time trying to figure out what is wrong with a rifle they are worth their weight in gold. By the way your buddy picked a great rifle. Should be a half MOA gun with FGMM.

I do agree on the 20 MOA and a stock upgrade will be wanted after a while although the accustock is very serviceable. Get a good base in the beginning and no need to upgrade as the rifle grows up.
