Where can I find a rear trigger guard screw that's longer than the factory stock one? My stevens is mounted in a choate tactical stock and the rear trigger guard screw isn't long enough to come in contact with the rear assembly leaving a few mm gap between the stock and the safety. It doesn't pose a mechanical problem shooting but I am starting to believe its throwing my shots low.

I believe you need to leave that tang "floating".
You could use bondo or JB weld and build up that area of the stock.
Unless it is vastly different from the savage action i have, the rear trigger guard screw does nothing but anchor the trigger guard.
Of course they have three or four different actions so YMMV.

Not sure that I`m following you on this one. The rear trigger guard screw on a Savage doesn`t thread into the action like on a Remington. Its only purpose is to hold the rear of the guard to the stock. It will not pull the action down any. The last thing you want on a Savage is for the rear tang (safety) to make contact to the stock. You want this area floated or you will have all kinds of unexplained shots.. In fact make sure your entire action is floated in your Choate.

Thanks guys. On one hand it was nice to know I didn't do anything wrong when I installed the stock, had to take the thing apart to see for myself. Was just kind of concerned I did something wrong since there is a very small gap from the stock and the assembly.
