Hey guys and gals,
I tried searching using google but didnt find exactly what im looking for. I am looking for information on how hard it would be to alter a la staggered feed blind mag stock to fit a la centerfeed blind mag action?

Thanks

Re: Savage stock Questions

Thanks for the reply. Looking at a stock that i wouldn't have to wait that long for. Im thinking if would just be making the notch in front of the rear pillar for the L-clip mag bracket but wanted to make sure.

Thanks

Re: Savage stock Questions

I do not know, but you might find the quick answer you are looking for at savageshooters. Seems like I have seen this posted there before.

Good luck and hope it works out for you.

Re: Savage stock Questions

you are looking at changing where the action screws are located. 4.4 is the center feed screw spacing and 4.25 is the stagger feed screw spacing. so it is not to big a deal providing you can get everything else lined up. there are many nice stocks for both actions what are you looking for? it may reduce the amount of screwing around you do.

Re: Savage stock Questions

I do a thread started over there to. This is gor a long action so i know the spacing is correct just dont know about the inletting.

Thanks!

Re: Savage stock Questions

Centerfeed long action and a staggerfeed stock, right?

Get it inletted for CDI DBM, bolt 'er together and go shooting...your action will never know the difference.

Here are some photos of Boyd laminate stocks, so you can see the inlet difference between a long action staggerfeed & centerfeed. Differences are the mag well inlet, as well as the magazine "L-clip" on the centerfeed. The rear pillar on a centerfeed stock will be slightly shorter relative to a staggerfeed stock in order to accommodate the thickness of this L-clip.

Re: Savage stock Questions

Thanks Boilerup. I would run a cdi bottom metal but this is a 338 edge so it wont fit into any mag at the length i load them too. So basically it is opening up the mag well and making a slot for my L-clip?

Thanks

Re: Savage stock Questions

I had a 7 mag CF that I put into a stagerfeed stock. I don't have it anymore, but I remember only having to modify the L clip to get it to work. Seems like the mag set a little more forward when installed in the stagerfeed stock though, didn't cause me any problems and fed just fine.
