Savage TR Coating?

Anyone have any idea what it is that the Savage TR's are coated with? Will the barrel be less susceptible to rusting?

I'm talking specifically about the barrel, not the stock. Its not blued, its some sort of matte finish on it? Rustproof unless it chips? Does it chip? Experiences anyone?

I have the TRR-SR. From VA went to LA, high humidity caused a fine rust to form on barrel and bottom metal edges very quickly. Recommend you treat it like bluing.

Yes they will for sure rust, I know firsthand.
