Just bgt savage Mk II With accutrigger. This trigger has more creep than Steven Tyler at a high school dance. And it breaks at well over 4# even after I adjusted it to minimum pull. Suggestions? Any Alabama smith's that can help me with this?

Re: Savage trigger help

I just did a trigger job on my accutrigger today. Basically did what BoilerUP posted. Changed out the leaf spring to a bic spring, shortened the main spring, and shimmed the group with .025" of brass between it and the receiver.

Turned out lovely, crisp and light. Don't have a pull gauge, but I can tell you it's much lighter than factory. Bumped it around a bunch and slammed the bolt closed about 100 times in front of the TV with no firing issues.

I didn't have much play in the trigger so I didn't shim it, but it's easy enough to do. The whole job took me about 20 minutes. Most of that being disassembling/assembling. Made a huge difference for me and didn't cost anything.

I'm sure the riflebasix is nice, but for the $80+ dollars I'll just buy ammo and enjoy my trigger job!

Re: Savage trigger help

I admittedly hadn't seen that Rimfirecentral post until today, but I followed that thread on my FV-SR and it made a world of difference.

I stretched out the sear spring a little bit (about 0.040"), cut about 3/4 turn off the main spring, and replaced the Accutrigger spring with a spring from a click pin. I've got a bit of wobble in the Accutrigger (not a problem operationally), and when you pull the Accutrigger I can hear the spring creak before it breaks, but neither of those cause me issues.

Slammed the bolt, smacked the butt on the ground, etc....no issues with it firing.

Can't wait to go to the range now...

Re: Savage trigger help

good ones (groups) are easier to achieve with one than without one.

the rifle is going to group the same with or without the trigger, it's the operator that messes it up.

the RB trigger aliviates alot of that, has probably increased my operability by at least .5" to .75" at 100 yards.
