Savior Equipment "LRP" Rifle Bag - Thoughts?

One thing to keep in mind with backpack rifle bags: when carrying backpack-style, the top invariably hits any doorframe you pass under. My experience with my crappy (now unused) Explore case that looks similar to the Savior: hitting the door frames on my house, in the 25, 50, and 100 yd range buildings or stooping down like an idiot and still hitting the door frame only 50% of the time. This really sucks and forces one to “dismount” awkwardly right in the doorway area and sort of defeats the purpose of ease of carry.

This applies to any case of this type, really, country of manufacturer agnostic.

And, if you don’t carry it backpack style, it also defeats the reason for the carrying capacity of the pack (i.e. lots and lots). You murder your shoulder by loading one big case super heavy with all of your stuff and stagger from car to range building like a drunken sailor.

I’ve found that it’s easier to have a slim case for the rifle/ammo/mags slung horizontally over one shoulder while wearing a backpack containing everything else.

One trip, no dismount until I reach the range bench.

I'm 5' 10", and I had roughly 4.5-5" of clearance. The 51" bag you can add probably around 1-2" to that, and likely be at 5.5-6" of clearance.

Perhaps different manufacturers attach the straps in different places?

edit: yeah, that’s what’s happening. My case has shoulder straps anchored near the middle.

The Savior 51” has straps much higher. Smart.

Update, I received my Savior 36” specialist double rifle bag. Pleased to report that it fits my AIAT folder, and 4 full sized handguns(1911). My AT has a 24” barrel and the muzzle brake peaks out about 3/4 inch(I planned to chop the barrel down anyway) Quality is unlike all my other imported bags, so definitely more than I expected. However, only time will tell how it holds up, and I tend to throw around and drag my bags.

Will report back with pictures and more details as I get a chance to plan around with it more. However, so far so good, esp. for the price!

Man, that website is super-light on details. Is there any padding in them, because most of the ones I've seen like that are padded and it makes them quite a bit bulkier.

Yes, Napier soft cases are padded. No, they aren't excessively bulky.

You say you don't want something bulky but then you link to a floating case. How do you think they float? Here's a guess: FOAM PADDING.

Back to the OP. I've been interested in these bags but the website is very sparse on the details and there are a lack of reviews. Overall what's your impression.

Gotcha. I haven't been to a public range in 12 years since I moved to SD. It's nice to have so much open space. It's the reason I transitioned from mainly pistol to mainly rifle.

As I had said earlier, I do like my Savior bag and think its very good quality and suits my needs.

I do think I will stay out of the geo-economic debates, however. haha

One thing I like about this new product, the LRP case, is the config of the straps inside to hold the gun. Seems that most of these bags that I have seen have these velcro straps tacked down at the far top and bottom of the case and makes it tough to get a good cinch with them on the rifle. In the LRP, I think they did a smart thing and tacked them closer together allowing a better cinch. Small thing, but I like that.

As to one of these bags or a more simple bag with a backpack for everything else, well.....they make different bags for.....well, for different people and their different preferences.

Mine is mostly just for protection in the vehicle and from the vehicle to the range. We do have carts and so I don't really back pack stuff in. I haven't yet used the backpack straps but they will be handy for hiking out to range or field when the occasion arises. In the meantime, they hang there and I don't find them to be offensive.

The muzzle sticks out barely, so it doesnt fully zip up. However cutting the barrel down to 20” will have absolutely zero fitment issues. Just as reference for you folks with a folding stock (again this is the 36” Specialist double rifle bag, not the LRP).

To be clear about “imported” vs USA made. If a company produced this exact bag in USA and somehow made it with better material (quality of assembly already seems to be top notch with my savior bag), I would gladly pay the premium tripled pricing because I genuinely love to support my country wherever I can, especially anything relating to my 2nd amendment rights. Yes, I’ve had my fair share of terrible experiences buying cheap imported junk, but also a fair share of mind blowing quality products. However, I am not going to limit myself to USA made bags that do not meet my needs “just because”. Hell! I’m also looking to get a pelican 1700 with custom foam cut, which would all be made in USA and probably cost over $400 and I would not hesitate to spend the money.

Savior bags meet MY needs regarding features and design. The quality on the bags appear to be top tier regardless of where it was made (myanmar), but time will tell. If you havent tried their bags out and have no facts about them, I suggest you stop instigating and bitching like one of those Kardashian girls. What is your objective, to libel Savior? Are you really looking to “save” someone from a choice you’ve made in the past to buy imported products? Not all products are created equal. My $0.02 and logic, based on philosophies of this amazing Country, which is capitalism and free will. Rant over.

I was using it as an example because the bag looks similar to just a dry stuff sack with a strap. If it didn't have any foam padding, it would be like what I said I wanted in my earlier post.

I ordered the Savior Specialist 30" and the TGB 30" for my MDR. I also ordered the 511 M4 short bad. I was very surprised on the quality and the price of the Savior bags. Both bags had great features and were well made.

My current rifle bags are from 511 and Eberlestock, so that's what I'm comparing them to. The Savior is way better than the 511 in terms of value. The savior is much heavier though, but more durable. Perfect for a range bag. I did end up returning them due to the weight as I just wanted a lighter bag for the one rifle alone and went with the 511 Covrt Shorty (which is discontinued). If I had to choose between the 511 M4 and the Savior Specialist or TGN, I'd lean towards Savior. Unsure? Just do what I did, buy them all, return the ones you don't want.

I did end up buying some smaller molle bags for medical equipment from them which are good quality at a great price. Overall, they are now a company I follow and look forward to seeing the new stuff they come out with.

Looking up there "About Us" on their site, it's pretty vague. Only that the owner "Chris" is a gun enthusiast. Lol, not much information.

I actually dig the Savior bags. I have several different sizes of their "classic" double rifle bag. Has anyone loaded this bag down? On a normal range day I'd usually put my rifles in a savior bag and then have my backpack on. That's all I need if shooting by myself. I then have a range bag that contains (or is strapped to) my spotting gear (like tripod, 15x binos, spotting scope) and miscellanea that I would take if I was shooting with someone else. I look at this and think if I had all that stuff in one bag it would be like carrying a moose around.

I agree. I went from a rolling cart to one big bag (like the Savior) to a backpack plus a handheld rifle case (separate soft svelte case for each gun)

Separating the load is way better for me, and carrying the rifle case in my hand makes it way easier to maneuver in the house/car/range shed.

On the subject of Savior quality, since reading this thread, I bought Savior’s pistol case (Specialist) and wow, it’s really well made.

I've been using Savior's std 51" double bag or about 2 years and I'm very happy with it. but i only carry one rifle in it. 2 PRS rifles at once is a bit much for me!

Been using the Savior Specialist 55" for a few months and I really like it. Great price and seem to be of very good quality. About to pickup a 51".

Just wish their logo was a bit more discrete. Black works better for this. The soft case is a bit on the heavy side, but seems to provide good protection. Although the muzzle cover could be more padded.

Zippers work easily, no binding or catching on anything.

Cleaning rod sleeve is a nice addition.

Easy to put away my heavy rifle. Velcro straps can be flipped over to soft side so it doesn't scratch up cerakote or polished barrel.

There are strap handles attached at both ends, which also help carrying vertically and moving with more leverage. Back pack straps are nicely done and can be tucked away for a clean look.

I'm not using the optics cover. It's a tad short for my Razor 3-18x50 with Sunshade.

I have a regular 42” Savior double bag with shoulder straps for past 2 years and taken to range almost weekly. It’s stuffed full with two rifles and other stuff. No issues. Zippers have been put to the max stretching and held up well. Bipods with sharp Hawk Hill claw feet never ripped anything. Happy with it. Seems as good as my Lynx Defense honestly for 1/4 price.

I will say once you handle a TacOps though, next level quality and thought into the engineering. Also 5x more so.

I have two Saviors in multicam. 2 years old and not a single complaint.

The two camo ones have thicker fabric (1,000 vs 600 denier) than the solids and YYK zippers. Of course they cast more two but really do seem to be very rugged and robust.

i have a Eagle (lifetimewarranty)bought from Triadtactical and a rifle cheekpiece. that both have black leather nonsense that is all over the case and my face when i use the stuff. its my understanding Eagle industries was bought out and does not offer warranty repairs?
2. i bought tacforce i think it was for my ar and one more heavily used on the bolt guns. ALL the zippers have broken on it.

i would order the savior cases from Aimsurplus over amazon because amazon sucks. but i'd rather buy American made... but there is no guarantee they will be warrantied if there is an issue

FWIW, I ripped out one of the snap buttons from the muzzle "seat" insert. I contacted the Amazon seller who put me in contact with a rep at Savior and I got a free replacement. I can't recall how much time has elapsed since the purchase date and when I made the replacement request but it was at least past six months.

I have the Urban Warfare bag that I keep a carbine in and I've been happy with it. It's pretty solid for a bag and has plenty of padding. It is heavy though.

I agree with another comment I saw that it would be nice if the straps could move but it's not the end of the world.

It has plenty of storage space where I can store all of my carbine specific stuff in it. If I go to the range I just grab that and my general range bag and I'm set.

If I didn't have a bag for my bolt gun I'd be interested in their LRP bag.

I did get that bag and it's great. It does exactly what I need it to do. Holds a lot of stuff, and will hold a variety of different rifles and 2 together if I need it to. Good rec, thanks

Unfortunately once you load all that crap in it, it is quite heavy. So I have gotten away from really loading it down, and only keep the essentials in the rifle case then bring my range bag for everything else. But it is nice to minimize the amount of things I need to carry out to the truck and then out to the range.

Yeah, I needed to shoot several rifles after switching around my cans since getting a new one and with 2 rifles plus mags and stuff it was super heavy. It held up well but it wasn't a lot of fun to carry. Not something I'd do normally but it was very helpful for that so I didn't have to drag 4 different cases out and haul them all around.
