Wondering what yalls opinion of the Scalarworks Leap 1.57 34mm mount is on a hunting/precision bolt gun. How do they stack up between a good set of rings from a well-known company (NF, Seekins, ARC). I don't really need the QD function but I've got the opportunity to snag one at a good price. Will be mounting a NF ATACR 4-16x50mm. Wondering if I should stick with rings as they seem to have fewer failure points. Thanks

I have one on a rifle...I like it a lot and it's one of the lightest weight high-end mounts on the market. I've had zero quality issues with mine, and I did read somewhere that Scalarworks had reengineered their mounts to fix the potential for cracking (possibly due to users' overtorquing the screws?). Anyways, I found their LevelDrive screw level feature to be easy to use but I still level my scopes using FixIt Sticks' great set of bubble levels and the Arisaka leveling wedges. Lastly, the quick detach knobs on the Scalarworks are a PITA...they require some good hand-strength to tighten and loosen. You gotta wear gloves to get a good grip on the knobs to turn them. I have 2 Spuhr mounts....they are solid, precise and rugged. I'm sold on Spuhr; not so much on Scalarworks.

Good inputs. I was really only drawn to them for the weight. I was just consented with having such a heavy scope in and be.

Hard to find a one piece mount in that weight. I’ll probably stick with rings or a nightforce mount as I don’t need the qd. I’ve tried to think of situations where I’d need it but can justify it.

Look at Reptilia.

I don't have one yet but it sounds like a solution for tightening the knob.

Stick with rings or unimount. The brands you mentioned are all 100%

My buddy is an AR guy and has had trouble with Scalarworks stuff. But he runs his equipment very hard, FA, .308 AR10s, dumping guns into barrels, etc.

I was interested in their PEAK iron sights for my favorite/fun AR15 but he shared his experience and recommended I stick with my plastic Magpuls. He runs the steel and prefers them, but plastic ones are close enough to not be worth replacing as they hold zero.
