SCAR 17

New here to the Hide. I have picked up the "BUG" for long distance shooting and this seems the place to be.

Just finished my SCAR17 and will hit the range next week to sight her in.

Even as this one is still wet I'm getting the urge to build up a nice bolt action.

Heres my thinking:

Rem 700P/PSS or 5R .308, 24"-26"
new trigger
extended bolt handle
AICS/Viper stock w/10rd mag
Harris Bipod
US Optics scope ( TBA)
anything else?

Any suggestions, comments?

I'm not looking to set records or compete...just have fun at the 500yd range and longer if I can find somewhere that's longer.

sounds great - wish I had your job to afford a nice bolt gun, my SCAR 17 left me with enough spending money to put my SPS Tactical into a HS stock and that was about it for mods.

Sounds like you are on the right track. 26" is more barrel than you need for a 308, especially at the range you are talking, but I'm not sure what other choices you have in barrel length.

I'd do a 24" but just don't like the looks of a 20".

I'm hoping to find just the barreled action for a 5R or 7000P/PSS if anyone has one for sale, new/good used?
