I just sold mine to fund the purchase of a precision rifle. The SCAR is a great battle rifle that can also do service as a sniper rifle in a pinch with the right optics on it. The stock trigger it comes with is horrible. I enjoyed mine while I had it. It has some great features, is relatively light-weight for a 7.62 battle rifle. As it comes stock here in the USA it has a compensator on it that makes it incredibly loud, I mean, really, really loud. Parts are somewhat hard to come by for it.

great rifle I would not sell mine for any other rifle, accurate and reliable
I upgraded mine to run AR 308 Mags with an aluminium lower.
So no mag shortage
Mine is MOA and I have shot it out to 750 yards so far on steel

I am really enjoying my SCAR17, just some info SCAR-H is technically the military version, civilians get the 17s models. I only have 100-150 rounds through mine. I just started some load development with mine. With the factory trigger still I am getting right around 1.2-.8 moa with factory loads. Without the last round from the mag flyer I had a 4 round .6moa group with factory 168amax. Not to shabby for a 8lb 308 battle rifle. I am sure that once I get a better trigger either G super scar or shooting sights (fn forum Sponsor)adjustable trigger and get a hand load developed with some more time getting real comfortable with it I don't see why my SCAR couldn't be a sub moa all day gun (with the shooter doing their part).
Ironically after just 1 month of ownership I can find the sweet spot on the sights of my scar faster than any AR I own. So ergonomicaly I prefer the SCAR to the AR. And it doesn't have my best scope on it either. All my guns have vortex optics. I have only been a AR owner for 3 years but I do shoot all year round to the tune of a couple thousand rounds a year between the AR's(3) I own.
The only wish I have is for someone to make some aftermarket hi performance barrel kits for it, I believe they are on the way in the next few months from a Hi-Desert dog. I would be just absolutely tickled till I Pissed myself if someone would make the parts to convert it to a 6.5 Grendel. This is my unrealistic dream and I realize that but I guy can still dream right? Or nothing cool would ever be thought of........

I wish I could tell you -- when I got mine it was the first .308 my wife could shoulder and handle comfortably. She liked it so much she appropriated it. I'll be getting a new one for me. I hear they're great though. The only observation I've been able to make without much study is I would prefer a non-reciprocating charging handle and will be switching my wife's to the right side or she is sure to beat the heck out of her thumb.
I have had a bunch of time behind a 16 and 17s. I have ARs that are heavier than the 17. The 17 is the lightest battle rifle I have ever shot, and with the break it's very manageable, more manageable than any 308 battle rifle I have fired (HKG3, M1 Garand, M14, M14SOCOM) The accuracy is great. I have bench grouped around 1.0-1.25 inches at 100 with good ammo. They clean really easily.
I have been shooting ARs forever and I really prefer the ACR, G3, SCAR charging method much more. I never had any feeding issues and if you read the reports from fielding tests by SF and others in combat they seem to be very positive. The only draw back I hear people complaining about is the reciprocating charging handle, did not bother me. At the moment the 17 seems hard to get and if you find one it may be a collectors item down the road?
But keep in mind the scar is not intended as a precision platform, it sports a combat trigger, it's a combat rifle and a high magnification optic on top is not going to change that. It's meant as a hard hitting I will fuck you up behind your car door rifle. The cartridge has tremendous stopping and penetration power that kicks an AK's ass, and the 762x39 is no slouch.
p.s. if you get a 16 or 17 throw a Giesel in it and you will be very happy.

Thanks All, I pulled the trigger on one, got it at grabagun for $2750 (with $5 flat rate 2 day shipping). Also ordered a Super Sniper 3-15x42 mil/mil with mil-quad reticle, Bobro mount, Ergo grip, few mags, and a Geiselle super scar trigger. I should be at the range this weekend shooting her..I"m stoked!

I think it has a PWS brake on it? I was shooting my REPR on Sunday and a guy was shooting his 17 next to me and I believe he had the same PWS brake as mine and damn his was loud. I guess that is what my gun sounds like lol.

Some guy over on the FN forum has been talking about making a lower for a long time, so far, nothing but talk.
2 pounds shipping weight, I would guess 1.5 pounds?

I love the SCAR17 much more than my LMT, FALs, HK91, M1As, and Saiga308.
The SCAR is just an amazing little jack of all trades that runs clean and very reliable. Its MOA accurate, light but with minimal recoil, eats any ammo, stupid easy to maintain, one hex wrench takes apart everything on the gun, and the ergos are as close to perfect as I have seen. The factory trigger sucks ass, so I added a Gessle and its about perfect for what the gun does. Parts are easy to get online now from companies like HighDesertDog, and mags are getting plentiful and coming down in price. There are a lot of awesome products being developed for the gun, like lowers, stocks, extended rails, and non-reciprocating bolt handle kits. The barrel can be easily changed out, so when FN heavy barrels become available for the civilian market - the platform will probably be taken to the next level.

You will not regret getting one.

I received the rifle yesterday and mounted the scope last night. I was able to get a few rounds in this morning and all I can say is WOW! I love everything about this rifle and I'm happy with my scope choce (SWFA 3-15x42 mil/mil quad plex reticle). I was easily able to hit the steel plate at 700 meters and will push it out to 1000 yards tomorrow. The rifle:
Congratulations on one of the finest battle rifles ever produced! I've had mine for a while and I will not sell it for anything after living with it for a while. I too an looking forward towards the heavy barrel when they get released. Please excuse the boonie hat brass catcher. lol
If you haven't tried Shhoting Sight's two stage trigger, you have to try it. Sold my "G" triggers after trying one out. Now all my SCARs are equipped with Art's triggers.
I too love the SCAR17, it's one of the most accurate battle rifle I have ever seen. The SCAR with a scope weighs about the same as an AR-308 with no scope. That counts a lot if you have to pack it very far. The only improvement I can think of (after replacing the trigger of course) would be to add an ambidextrous bolt release in front of the trigger guard similar to the XCR, ACR and Rock River LAR 308. The SCAR17 is much more fun than running a bolt gun, and more challenging. I'm probably going to be burned for saying this but shooting a bolt gun with a 10 round DBM is almost boring compared to shooting a 20 round semi auto SCAR.
