Hey guys does anyone have any first hand experience with these? Likes? Dislikes? I saw the review LL did, but just want to see if there's any updates.
I have a chance to pick one up for ~ $4k but want to make sure I do my due diligence before I drop that kind of cash.

    Thanks!

I've only had a chance to play with one in a shop. Controls are typical S&B. Low profile turrets are a plus, although I don't like the MTC function. It's also a reasonably long scope, so I would suggest it will look out of place on a short barrelled rifle. At 45x the reticle is quite thick, kind of reminded me of the March 5-40x56, although the S&B is a slightly bigger scope. Nothing to complain about with the glass. These things retail for about $6300 in Australia, so they're out of reach for most people. In a practical sense, I think the 45x zoom is very much a balancing act with the reticle options, that's where most of my consideration would come down to with this type of scope.

It does look a little long, but everything is a give and take I suppose.
What reticle did the one you looked through have?

I picked one up with a h2cmr reticle from MHSA a week ago. I have had it out a couple times now and it's growing on me. Compared to a 5-25 S&B the eye box is a bit less forgiving but not bad by any means. The low profile elevation turret is very nice with positive clicks. The way S&B moved the parallax indicator to the 2 o'clock position and windage to 10 o'clock is very useful. The glass is very clear and bright just like any other S&B up to about 35x, after that I seem to notice a little less clarity up to 45x but still very usable for spotting shots. Quite a bit less tunneling at 5x than the 5-25.

I have one with a Tremor 3 reticle. It is by far my favorite scope, for a number of reasons: ergonomics, ease of zeroing, robust design, mechanical accuracy, great reticle, magnification range with no tunneling. I don't use 45x often but it is a nice option to have. The only downsides I personally see are length (still workable) and price. I use it on a 6mm Creedmoor and it has been fantastic.

Ah this explains what I saw at the range last week. Saw some guy with an axmc rockin what i thought looked like a really long ultra short because of the turrets.

What kind of elevation on these? I want to watch franks video but can’t because of my child that wakes up to a pin frickin dropping.

I was looking at either the t3 or p4f reticle. How do you like the t3 for that scope?
And I'm not as concerned with the length cause I think a uso is still longer lol

When you get above 35x is the scope getting darker at all or is it just a loss of clarity? I would never shoot on a mag that high but for observational purposes I would use it.

I like it a lot, it has a reasonably small center dot but still remains useable throughout the entire 5-45x range. I'm pretty happy with the entire setup.

It doesn't get darker, just a very slight loss of clarity. At 45x it is still very usable for observation. Other than the cost the scope is an awesome optic with good well thought out features and I would highly recommend it. When I bought this scope I compared it to an atacr 7-35. The Nightforce was a very good scope with good glass but I felt the Nightforce lacked a lot in the features department compared to the S&B 5-45.

Bravo6niner let me look thru his when he was picking it up @ MHSA. I liked it. I really like the low profile elevation and the covered windage turrets that S&B is using on the newer scopes (same as on the Ultra Short models).
