Rifle Scopes Schmidt or Hensoldt???

Re: Schmidt or Hesoldt???

It would not hold at any range.
Dialed,...bang, hole 2 foot high an 12" left, bang again, now it's low an ctr'ed, no knobs turned. Pulled the S&B after checking everything, installed a 6400 bushnell, zero'ed then 4 shots <moa at 800, knob'ed the bush and she printed where it was knob'ed from 300 to 1K.

Sure could be a bad SB...or it could be it wasn't mounted properly.....happens to everybody once and awhile.

Everything breaks...everything.....some just break less than others.... The biggest advantage the Henny had in my opinion was the most forgiving eyeplacement/cheekweld.....period....
others will concur I am sure...

Re: Schmidt or Hesoldt???

I was with Ilya for a couple of the days during his testing. I was very impressed with the USO in that during daylight the eye relief, FOV, Depth of Field and resolution of the scope was on par with the Hensoldt and S&B. The FOV was noticeably superior to the Hensoldt and I think even better than the S&B. The HEnsoldt had the least depth of field but this was not a shortcoming that would make such a big difference to a civilian shooter I feel. USO's eye relief was very good through the mag range as well with only tiny adjustments needed. However, the Hensoldt was rock solid no matter what.

The USO also had the best 'natural' color look out of all the scopes there. Of course, there was no practical testing of the scopes so I have no opinion on that level.

For me, the clincher is Hensoldt's ease of sight picture. If weight is of no concern then probably the best value for money is the Premier (this is for those scopes in the 3-12 / 3-15 / 4-16 mag range).

However, S&B's new reticles are very appealing. I'd love a chance to look at the HCMR, Klein and MSR reticles.

If you're in no hurry, I'd wait to see what NF comes out with this Summer. Nothing wrong with more choices...
