Im buying a polar t96 3-12 but can't decide if I want the ffp l7 or sfp d7. This scope will be on a medium range (600yard) hunting rifle. I shoot competitive prs with different rifles so I am familiar with ffp reticles, but not specifically the L7 in the 3-12. Anyone with firsthand experience care to chime in? I don't want a reticle that's too big at 12 power and unusable at 3 power. The subtensions of the L7 seem almost useless so I don't understand why you would want ffp on this scope.

I went with the SFP D7 on a 2.5-10 but mine is used 100% for hunting at no more than 350 yards….and many shots less than 50 yards, hence the lower base mag. I am almost always in a fixed position with a shooting stick or solid rail as well. I like the way the D7 reticle looks through the scope and draws my eye on target.

Necro post. @BamaSE and @ajridgedell How are these scopes working out for you guys? Can't seem to find a whole lot of information on them here. Was considering one of the Polars are going back to a Z8i.
I like it, it wasn't as mind blowing in low light as I hoped it would be, but its on par or better than anything else I have. I don't even remember if i got the ffp or sfp but i do remember liking the reticle

Still have it? I remember when I had my z8i the low light was fantastic and that is rated at 93% light transmission and the polar is 96%

I have a 3-12 Polar D7. Just got it back from Schmidt today . Had a CCW Mil turret installed.
The scope is excellent in low to low to no light. My daughter loves it. As my eyes age, I’m not convinced that I can totally appreciate the performance as I did with younger eyes. It’s still better than any other scope I have at 12x in low light.
Had a 3-12 Zeiss Diavari that was stoopid good about 10 years ago. But I sold it.
