Hey all, looking for a bipod with a pic rail mount to go on my CTR in a Bell and Carlson competition stock. Want it to be stout enough and secure enough to hold up this 35lbs boom stick. I’ll be doing 95% of my shooting from a bench or prone and only shoot about 450-600 yards. Not sure if I really need the pan feature, that might actually be a negative for me. What do you all say? Anybody have a few atlas bipods and want to share their thoughts?

Sounds like a CAL is what you need. I've run an Atlas on all my rifles for almost ten years now and I will continue to run them on any future rifles I purchase. I've had the CAL, the PSR, the V8, so I have some pretty extensive experience with them. I don't think your 35 pound rifle is going to be an issue, but maybe you need to use the Super CAL

Most skip the pan feature, the CAL BT65-LW17 is what I have and what I think you want. 35 lbs is fine for that one I'm sure.

ETA: Not sure how you got to 35 lbs in that configuration tho. Did you hollow out the stock and fill it with lead? Are you including that table in your weight?

If your mind is already set on an Atlas I'd get a CAL. Ran the PSR for a while and got rid of it as I didn't care for the pan feature.

If you're willing to consider other bipods I think Thunder Beast's bipod is awesome and so is Ckye pod.

Also the old Harris with an RRS arca / picatinny adapter is a solid option if it fits your application.

if that weighs that much i would go with an accu-tac instead. much beefier (i have both).
same features, made in the usa.

Weigh it without the fancy slab of wood! Lol.

I just went through this. I went with the Cal bt65-lw17 with ADM mount. Made the most sense for me and similar application...except my rifle is 13ish not 35 pounds. Lol

Hey guys, the 35lb weight was a joke, I’d say she’s closer to 15lbs but it’s hands down the heaviest rifle I own. Lol. I’ll have to put it on a scale when I can. I’m newer to shooting distance and this is my first “precision” rifle.
My main question is do any models offer a lock out for the pan feature so it could be optional? I’d imagine the pan feature would come in handy a few times but 90% of my shooting I’d want to lock the pan feature out so it’s stationary. Also I’d want a QD pic mount, the only one I saw with a QD was the psr bt46-Lw17. I’ll have to sit down and really look into the model features but I can’t find a list or a comparison chart or something

Cal BT65-LW17

The Cal Gen 2 with QD

This is what you seek. Forget the pan

The V8 and PSR are their models that pan. There is a knob on the bottom that tightens that feature but it also tightens the cant feature. So if you have locked out your pan you have also locked out your cant.

Go with a Hide supporter like Snyder or Precision Shooters. PS is in stock with the qd pic attachment on the V8, PSR, and CAL and are doing a free hat with purchase and free shipping over $100.

Ive got the BT46-LW17, kinda wish I wouldve got BT47-LW17 with longer legs but I roll around in the pasture with mine so a little more length is advantageous. I slap it onto a Seekins Precision rail that they make specifically for bell and carlson stocks, very nice and has a nub ar rhe back for a sling loop. My gun is closer to 11.5 and its only gonna get lighter when the phoenix stock and CGS Hyperion K get thrown on

Fun fact, Bell and Carlson is out if Dodge City, KS, and Atlas Bipods are made in Wichita, KS
