I'm running a 700 in .308 with a 26" barrel and a YHM 7.62 can on it. Makes for a long weapon. I carry it in an Eberlestock X3 Lo Drag, and the muzzle is and easy foot or more over my head. At muzzle-down ranges the stock sticks up as well.
I'm looking to shorten it for easier packing, partly since I plan to deer hunt with it this fall. Looking at folding stocks, but have no idea what's good/bad. Needs to be robust and me-proof, adjustable, and, umm, what else?
What do you have, do you like it, what would you change?

I have a Manners T4F. It's cool, and the folding/locking system is very well done. That said, its an expensive heavy beast.

For the ~$1000+ you'll put into the stock, I wonder if you wouldn't be better off keeping your rifle as-is as a target rifle, and buying another rifle more suited to humping and hunting?

If not, a folding stock will certainly save you ~10" in length. Personally, I see folding stocks more applicable to ~18-20" rifles for law enforcement use, where the rifle is in and out of a car or tight space frequently.

If you want to change stock , manners tf series, krg w3 and xlrs are hard to beat.

If you wanna be unique get an eberlestock folding stock.. It's a unicorn never seen one

Rifle is going to be rebarrelled to a shorter .260 and will still be my FTR/Tac Match rifle. Figuring .22-24" barrel, and shorter/lighter can. I'm enjoying a little sticker shock right now also, that's a lot of money for a stock. Then again, little about competitive shooting rewards pennypinching.

Damn BgBmBoo, I dig that setup.

Not the full chassis but KRG nonetheless!
