So I recently purchased a KAC SR 15 Mod 1 and was planning on buying a Vortex 1-4. After being convinced that the extra X2 power is worth it, I have decided to go with a 1-6. I am stuck between SWFA 1-6 and Leupold Mark 6 1-6 Illuminated CMR-W 5.56. The only thing is I have zero experience with either reticles as well as SWFA's glass. I am able to get a pretty good deal on the Mark 6 as well. I was wondering if the Mark 6 was worth paying $500 more instead of the SWFA. If anyone had any experience with both or just one I would appreciate your input. If anyone had any suggestions for a good quick detach mount I would certainly appreciate that as well. Thanks everyone I really appreciate it.

I like just about everything SWFA makes, scope wise. I think they are tremendous bargains, considering the features you get for the price. I find every one I've bought to be reliable and user friendly. The 1-6 has one of the better and most usable reticles around at both 1x and 6x.

Leupold on the other hand, has never delivered, to my mind, a product that was worth the price they charged. Are they reliable, yes. Do they have great customer service, yes. And I should note, Leupold has made very few "bad" scopes, just overpriced ones, again IMHO.

However, one thing Leupold does have going for it, is a stable and quick resale value. A year for now, if you change your mind, getting rid of a Leupold is easy and the depreciation hit is minimal. Is that worth an extra $500? I don't know, but either scope is a solid reliable option.

As far as QD mount, I like the SWFA version of the Bobro 30mm Slightly Forward QD mount for the SWFA 1-6. For the Leupold with it's 34mm tube I'd lean to the Aadland 34mm mount, ever though it's not really "quick" detach.

IMHO and YMMV

I have the swfa 1-6 and my brother in law has the bushnell elite tactical 1-6.5. I really likeboth scopes. His is the sfp version. The bushnell was easier to make faster precise shots at 1 power to me but the swfa was faster to get a round on target. Both had same level of glass to me. At 6x I preferred the swfa with the finer reticle I would have liked a little thicker. I also wish the turrets were smaller on the swfa they are a little big for my taste on that style scope. Don't overlook he bushnell.

For the qd mount I am using the bobro and brother in law is using the adm. I like the looks of the adm better but the bobro is much easier to use. My vote goes to bobro. Hope this helps.

SWFA's higher line of scopes, which includes the 1-6x, are really great optically and mechanically. I would have a hard time justifying more cost to get the Leupold. I haven't had Leupold's Mark 6, but their Mark 4 and VX-R lines have not impressed me, especially when price is factored in.
