Scope base for 338LM, 20* or 40*

Don't which base I should use on a 338LM, a 20* or 40*. I have a NF with 120 MOA total, 60 up/ 60 down. I think the effective range is about 2000 yds which would be about 80 MOA, correct me if I'm wrong. That would max me out with the 20* base. Do I want or need the extra MOA's of the 40*, just in case?

Depends on what you want your zero to be and if you can obtain it with the 40 base. If you can, then no reason not to take advantage of it.

Good point. Probably stick with the 200 yd zero.

With 120 MOA of elevation travel get the 40 MOA base, nothing to lose.
