for those looking through your magnified scope with your dominant eye when shooting, do you close the other eye or open both?
i'm asking because i'm cross-eye dominant(right hand, left eye dominant), when shooting optic with red dot, i see/focus better when shooting left hand. would it give me better result/benefit if i switch to left hand for long range shooting for better target id/search, fov etc?

I shoot with both eyes open. Most rifles are made to be righty so might be easier to train your non dominant eye. Especially if using an ar as I'm sure you don't like hot brass to the face.

Just my 2 cents. I have no idea what would be better for YOU.

If you want to keep shooting RH with left eye dominant you can locate a flip up ocular cover so is on the left when open. Then you can keep both eyes open and have a blinder for your left eye.

Have the same RH with LE dominate. Would have been much, much better off if I had switched to shooting lefty 55 years ago, especially for wing shooting.

ok ill try flip up to cover my left eye. I like to shoot both eye open but has hard time to focus on the target when not using my dominated eye, which force me to close my left eye even on red dots.

I had an AHAH moment when I applied a little trick someone suggested. I put on the end of the scope a Butler Creek end cap and put a little stopper to allow it to only open parallel to my face. Then I rotate the cap to a 45 degree angle (depending on your dominant eye) such then when you are "on" your scope the idle eye is right in front of your opened cap lid. Using this method I keep both eyes open without any interference and I can keep my eyes sharp for extended sessions. I was skeptical in the beginning but this method has worked admirably well for me.
