Rifle Scopes Scope Dilemma

Currently I have a custom 700 308 with a 20” Bartlein in an AICS folding chassis with a 4.5-27 Gen 2 Razor. I recently picked up a RPR in 6.5 CM to play around with. Just to be able to shoot it I temporarily moved the Razor over to the RPR and planned on buying a more mildly priced scope (PST Gen 2 or Sightmark Pinnacle) to go on top of it and keeping the nicer glass on the custom rifle. ISSUE: I like the RPR so much I don’t see myself shooting the 308 a whole lot for now, but want glass on both when I plan on big days at the range and want to play with both but another Razor is pretty much not an option for the foreseeable future. I want to keep the 4.5-27 on the RPR but have this odd complex of putting the lesser glass on the custom rifle lol. If you were in my shoes, would you guys rather:

A) Nicer glass on the primary gun
OR
B) Nicer glass on the “nicer” gun

Lets see, I like the ruger better so I will probably shoot it more, so let me put crappy glass on it and keep the good glass on the gun that I will shoot less. That sounds like a plan.

I would put the better glass on the gun that is going to get shot more. I'm a confirmed NF junkie, and I don't like vortex much, but I would put an SHV F1 on any gun, regardless of cost. Awesome scopes. The only time I care about putting better scops on, like an ATACR, is for guns that will actually be used for real, where low light is an issue. As a range toy, it's pretty meaningless.

Put the best glass on the gun you shoot the most often, enjoy the most.

If needed, you will move it back over even if it's a pain.

Leave the other rifle naked for a bit. If you don't enjoy shooting it as much, don't shoot it just to justify keeping it and not using it. Waste of time and money.

My 6.5CM RPR was a very accurate and reliable gun for the $

I predict a factory AI rifle for you in 2-4 years based on the 2 guns you mentioned.

That Razor works well on AIs as well...

I pretty much figured on these exact responses... the 308 isn’t really a fat chick. Just maybe more of lame fuck lol.

I’ve thought about selling all my two LR guns and maybe offing my SCAR and doing an AI AT with some different barrels spun up and ready to rock. The zero stop adjustment on the Gen 2 Razor would make it very easy to go from cal to cal. Something I didn’t mention about the 308 is that it’s a little sentimental. It started out life as a factory rem 700 308 AAC-SD and slowly became what it is (the normal I know) I know the smith that did the work and I was around/ran the tooling on some of the build after he set up. Final chambering and threading was all him tho lol. I’m not sure I’d be willing to sell it for what it’s worth but who knows what might come along. I’m typically that guy that gives people shit about “marrying” their equipment but this one is different for me I guess. I’ve been tempted a few times to sell it.

I still regret selling my first time handgun, sad that I don't know if it's being abused or neglected.

Guns are like a harem, you don't have to marry only one.

Sounds like you have some rifle A.D.D going on. Quite common, and the cure is a project. I would keep the Razor on the RPR. Then depending on the barrel profile of the 308, lighten her up as a practical rifle of sorts, for hunting or just some shoot and scoot under 300Y. You can fling any ammo out of it because at that short range it should all ring steel. Get a nice 1-6 or 1-8 on it. You dont need to sell the AI stock and those HS LTR stocks can be found for close to nothin.

Unfortunately I live in southern MI and my hunting rifle is a Christensen Arms Mesa 450 Bushmaster that has a 2-5-10 PST gen 1 on it. The 308 has a M24 contour... in a AICS 2.0.... it’s a pig lol

lol no kidding, ive gotta a hefty 260 MTU 24" in a McMillan sniperfill stock. If it ever stops shooting I can use it to drop anchor.

I have a Surgeon Scalpel .308 with a Heavy Palma 25". Just shy of 9lbs just for the barreled action. I know the feeling.
