Scope for new build ?

Using the suggested info form;
Platform; rifle in either 6 or 6.5
Use; Florida sunshine, 100 & 300 yd load development on paper, then 600 to 1200 on steel, ALL shot from a bench
Other rifles have SFP 40 x scopes with mil dots, usually backed down to 34-36X for 300 to 600 yd. steel
2022 budget is $ 700.00 to include a sun shade
Reviewing what was available of the "Black Friday" & Christmas "sales", I like the reticle in the Hawke 8x40x56
Suggestions ?

Find a Bushnell Elite in the PX. One just went earlier this week for less than $700 and I’ve seen others go for around the same price.

They aren’t common abut they do exist.

8-40 magnification for $700 isn’t going to be decent glass.
