Rifle Scopes Scope Help?

I just purchased the Vortex Diamond Back 4 x 12 x 40mm scope... I mounted the scope, and went to go zero it at 50 yards. Well,I had to aim about 18-24" high just to hit the target at 50 yards. I have high rings and a 10moa base. Center of scope to center of barrel is 1.9".. I needed the high rings because I could not get a proper cheek weld on my stock. This is mounted on a 10/22 rifle.
What I don't understand is the Nikon P22 I had mounted didn't have the same issues as this Vortex with the POI being that far off. Does that have to do with the Vortex 40mm Obj VS the Nikons 32mm Obj?

What are my options now? Do I need a lower scope base or higher one? X Hight rings?

I would recommend bore sighting a rifle before shooting it at 50 meter and I understand the need for the rings as I prefer the cheek weld with high rings.

Did you make adjustments using the vertical adjustment knob?

Can you give us more details on what is going ? Like out of elevation or what is exactly happening?

Yes sorry, the vertical elevation was bottomed out.

Umm defective scope then maybe? Got me on that one...you would think that this wouldn't be issue until it is.

So, you had the 10moa base on with the Nikon too? The only thing you did was change scopes, using the same rings? If so, I'm stumped.... If you changed anything with the base or rings, I'd look at those first thing.

That's a tuff one. Did you notice it tracking? As you raised the elevation did you see the impacts raising proportionately? Was just wondering if the elevation turret is installed or tracks backwards, as in impact goes down instead of up when spun. If it tracks correctly, might have to try the nikon again to verify the mount and rings are correct. If the Nikon is still working fine might have to send the vortex back in for examination or replacement.

Yes, it was tracking correctly. Vortex will be going back to Gander. Just got the damn thing today! UGHHHHHH

I've had Nikon Monarchs run out of adjustment before too. Seems like some lower end scopes are just prone to it (not that the Monarch is a lower end scope).
If it tracks properly and stayed zeroed during the shooting you did it may be something other than the scope. Ring or mounting issue?
Might call Vortex CS and talk to them before you return it.

Just a thought; is it possible to mount the 10 MOA rail backward?
