Rifle Scopes Scope Mount Conflict

Mounting a new Weaver Tactical on a Remington 700 SA.
Seekins 20MOA base and Seekins medium rings.
To get confortable eye relief (prone and other positions), the scope is sitting in this position with the zoom ring hitting the rear of the base. You can see the gap under the scope on top of the ring. I don't want to go to taller rings.

Recommendations? (Was thinking of just taking down the rearmost raised segment of the base, but hate to grind on a new $100 part!)

Just a thought, you can get a beartooth shooting pad to extend your length of pull by an .5 or 1 inch, you will then need to push your scope back the same amount for the same eye relief.

If you tuck it under a stock pad, it will not be visible, and reduce perceived recoil to boot. Most big-box stores carry them. (sportsmans warehouse)

File/grind down the section of the base thats interfering!

If the scope is positioned where you need it... Whats the problem with shaving a lil bit off the base!

Scope looks pretty far forward on your rifle, but it's what works for you.

I have the same rifle, with an EGW 20 MOA base, and zeiss scope... I think alot of scopes with adj. mag would have problems mounted in that position.

You have to grind/file or adjust the scope position.

Yeah, when I mounted it I thought it was far forward also. I kept pulling it back, but with the LOP on this rifle and the very narrow field of view of this scope, that is the only spot.
As for stock extension, I am considering a Limbsaver. Should add just a little.
Looks like it is time to get the Dremel out.

Cut off that last raised portion. It's not worth messing up your LOP or cheek weld to save a piece of aluminum.

I would check your scope placement again. Unless you got a very long neck or that scope has a 6" eye relief that scope looks way far forward. Have someone there helping you so you can get behind the rifle comfortably and have them move the scope.

If it still comes out the same then just shave down the last rail area enough so there is no contact.
