Rifle Scopes Scope mount for FN Winchester 70

I recently bought a Winchester 70 Extreme Weather (http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?family=001C&mid=535110) which has the 'new' pre-64 bolt action. Unfortunately when I went to the gun store to get a scope mount for it, many of the mounts were for the post-64 guns.

Do you guys know what's a good quality scope mount to get for this rifle?

Near Manufacturing makes very high quality bases, rings, and mounts for the M70.

I have one of their 1 piece bases on my SPR (M70 clone) and it is rock solid.

If yours is a short action use the WSM action bases.

Ah so that's what it is. A Winchester WSM action base. Man. Why don't they just say it in the manual or something. I'm sure there's like thousands of other people having the same exact problem.

Badger Ordnance has got two types. One for WSM and one for SPR.

P/N 306-06WSM Winchester Short Magnum action 20 MOA cant,4.7 oz.
P/N 306-06SPR FN SPR 20 MOA cant, 4.7 oz.

Do you know if they're different? Hmm.

The FN SPR uses a 20MOA one piece base. It also uses 8-36 screws to anchor it while other rifles use a weaker 6-40. Don't know if you can buy just the base from FN but as a last resort it might be worth a try.

P/N 306-06WSM is what I got and like posted above the only difference is in the screw size. Yours will be the standard size, unless you have had that changed.
