I am putting a new scope on my rifle and have questions regarding peoples opinions on mounts. There seems to be ideas on whether a one piece or two piece is best. I am looking to put a 1" Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-12x40 on my Howa 1500 in 308. Right now I can mount it in the standard two piece Leopold setup I have or upgrade to something else. I've been looking at one or two piece systems from various brands but aren't sure which would be the better setup. I use the rifle for hunting and target shooting and at this point with my skill set out to about 500m. Looking to take the distance further in the future. I've been looking at either Weaver style or Picatinny in brands like Warne, Sig Sauer, TPS, Nightforce and Leupold. I would like to not break the bank on the setup and keep it around $200. Any and all experience or opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

My preference is for a one piece picatinny scope rail usually with 20moa cant. I've used NF, Seekins, EGW, Badger, etc. Check the PX here. You can probably find what you need at a good price. I usually get the majority of my gear from here with a decent amount of savings over buying brand new.

I like the Warne products. Is there anything to be said by having both the mount and the rings be the same material? i.e. - Steel or Aluminum. Or can you mix and match without any difference in the finished product as far as accuracy is concerned?
