Hello all. I have a 24" .308 Remington 5R with an EGW 20MOA picatinny scope base. I want to mount my Bushnell 3.5-21X G2DMR on it with enough clearance to be able to use Butler Creek scope caps, but have no idea what size rings I need (or brand for that matter). Any help would be appreciated.

I've been a forum member for a while now which led me to purchase the 5R as my first bolt gun.

The tube diameter on that is 34mm(I think)....so you'll need 34mm rings. Usually it seems that the low rings work well on remingtons 700's with enough clearance to get scope caps on it. Here's a formula to make sure everything'll fit well: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-rifle-scopes/30721-ring-height-info-how-measure-correctly.html#
When it comes to ring brands, that's all in how much money you wanna spend on them. Most people will say to pay some decent money because, well, you are mounting a $2k+ scope, why pay $30 for rings that could fail? The bad thing about 34mm is ring options are a bit more sparse and a hair more expensive, but there are definitely some good options. Midway Link for 34mm Rings

I have ran low rings on a 20MOA base on my Remington 700 varmint profile barrels. With the 56mm objective on my Sightron SIII it was close but still worked. Medium rings will work for sure, but you are going to have to do something about the cheekweld to the stock.

Thank you so much. That link gave me all the info I needed. I ended up with Vortex Precision Matched rings which I guess is made by Seekins. I got the lowest 34mm rings they make (0.92"). Placed the order at MidwayUSA. Hopefully it'll be ready to shoot by next weekend.
