Hello, new member seeking advice. Almost finished putting together two 6.5mm rifles. All I have left is the scopes and muzzle devices. I’m a little overwhelmed with all the scope options, but I’ve narrowed it down and was looking for opinions of more experienced shooters.

Uses: fun at the range and maybe informal competition. Looking to have fun and meet folks rather than worrying about winning.

Rifle #1: 6.5 Creedmoor Rem 700 action with a Remage Criterion varmint contour in a KRG Bravo. Weight is not a concern, looking to keep scope budget at $1k. Considering refurb Vortex Razor Gen 1 5-20x50 or Steiner Px4i 4-16x56. Leaning towards the Steiner.

Rifle #2: 6.5 Grendel Howa Mini Action in a MDT LSS Chassis with a Magpul CTR stock and riser. This build is for my daughters (9 and 13-yrs old), so weight is a concern. An Athlon Midas TAC 4-16 seemed a good fit but they are heavy, I’ve also considered a SWFA fixed 10x, Bushnell Match Pro or Leupold Vx-Freedom AR 4-12x40 30mm.

Any other scopes I need to consider?

The Bushnell LRTS line punches well above their class, IMO, and they don't weigh too much for what they are. Or add the SWFA SS 3-15x42 to your list. Neither are the latest, greatest, most wiz-bang optics out there, but both have proven themselves to be robust and repeatable for under a grand. The Burris XTRII also fits that category, but since they're 34mm, they weigh a bit more.

The Burris XTR2 line isn't my favorite. I've owned 2. neither was bad, they just weren't my favorite.
that said, the 5-25 at optics planet for $650 is a pretty solid deal as long as you:
1) don't mind the odd camo (I've never heard of Prym1 Sand)
2) don't mind shopping at optics planet.

Really happy with the Steiner px4. Just purchased from camerland. Glass is excellent and I like the reticle. Hitting steel out to 900 no problem. Elevation turret is stiff like most threads have mentioned. At $800 it is excellent value.

Same rifle different bolt location

Thank you for all the responses. I’ll snag a Steiner as soon as possible, and think about a lighter weight option for my daughters’ set-up. I’ve got an extra B&L/Bushnell 4000 1.5-6x36 I can use on the Grendel for load development, that will give me time to save some $$ for a nicer scope.

Nice rifle pics. I really like my KRG Bravo. Great chassis for the price. Nice deer too.

It is nice having so many choices.

This was a nice rifle to hunt with. Not a light setup, but not too heavy either. We hiked for miles up and down draws and my son would not let me carry the rifle. Of course, he had no problem letting me drag that doe back to the truck...
