Do I have any idea if these are any good? No, no I do not. Feel free to discuss in the comments. Nevertheless, I thought I'd share these deals with the Hide.

AIM Surplus has Armalite branded 16 inch Nitrided 416r Stainless barrels on sale for $89.99. https://aimsurplus.com/products/armalite-16in-223556-mid-length-ar15-barrel-12x28

1:7 Twist, 556 Chamber, Midlength gas. Came to $104.71 shipped for me.

While researching these for any information (I found none), I stumbled across even cheaper Armalite OEM barrels.

(Presumably) 4150 (listed as CRMO) 1:8 twist, 223 Wylde, Carbine Gas HBARs for...$50.

Came to $75 shipped. I still ordered one. I have no idea if they're chrome-lined, nitrided, or neither.

I have no earthly idea what I'm going to do with them, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up.

I bought one last week to use as a do all carbine. I shot it today off a bag on the tailgate of my truck at 50 yards just to get the scope close. 55 fmjs shot pretty big but 69s looked like they want to shoot. I'll test 69s and 77s from the bench next time I go out.

I ordered a Midwest blast diverter from Aim also I had the rest of the parts laying around.

Mid length on a 16" is very soft shooting compared to carbine length.

Is Every Gun Part a legit website?

Yes, EGP is the sole source of Armalite parts, my impression is they must be going out of business considering some of the "fire sale" products we have seen over the last year from Armalite $1300 AR10's!!! Craziness IMO. And you have to be careful with EGP their shipping is ridiculous and parts are steep but they are legit. I bought a set of very important spare parts kits for my A/B version AR10's because if you need them and can't source them you are SOL, ymmv.........

So you think EGP is going out of business? I wonder who then will sale Armalites parts now seeing how they don’t? What a shit show this company has become….

EGP is legit, I’ve bought several parts from them and they were new and sealed.

I think his implication was Armalite may be going out of business. That's possible. Alternatively, they're doing a major product line revamp.

No Armalite, nobody has parts except the very few EGP has. Lots of places had them about 2 years ago then the slow disappearing stock dwindled even on the rifles. Not sure what else to think.

Well the lack of stock could be due to the fact they just moved to Texas. I'm sure that had a ripple effect in manufacturing. While I'm not a fan of the new owners it would sadden me to see Armalite go. I feared the company would go down hill once Westrom sold it....

Where are you seeing a "major product line revamp" ?? Their website is virtually unchanged for 2 years at least except for the address and the fact they don't sell parts directly, do you have a press release or another source? Their parts kits and other items ie; bolts, carriers, mags used to be affordable and plentiful and their CS was great, now not much there except some T shirts.

Purely conjecture as another explanation for them clearing out old inventory at fire-sale pricing.

Who's already planning out another upper that will inevitably turn into a complete rifle because you already have a lot of the other stuff?

Well, I’ll try to be optimistic for a change and hope that because of their move to Texas this has caused the sales that we ave seen. I also hope that they will produce a full ambi lower. If they do that then I see me adding a couple more large frames to the stable.

It’s doubtful but a man can hope….

Much like you I am optimistic "sometimes" but in this case not so much. To me it's like Geissele or Knights sole sourcing their entire parts line to Brownells or Midway or some such example, would be a red flag something was wrong. I do understand it's apples and oranges plus it's got to be a tough market for SAC to compete considering what it comprises.

I got my barrel yesterday, there was a small burr at the feed ramp that I dealt with but nothing wild and easily remedied. I like the contour, it appears to be a nice split between a 16" SPR contour and government contour barrel, thick where it needs to be and still light. I'll try to get some numbers up later.

I'll be getting in the EGP today. ETA for the AIM Surplus is Monday.

I measured mine, it starts out at .961" at the flange, tapers to .873" at the chamber and then continues to taper to .755" just before curve up to the .875" shoulder, .750" gas journal, and that steps down to .725" until the muzzle threads. The gas port is on the big side for a 16" ML barrel at approx. .083" and these are not dimpled for a gas block. The weight is 2.052 lbs, which almost perfectly splits the difference between a 16" government contour and 16" SPR contour.

On schedule, the EGP barrel was delivered today. Brand new in a sealed wrapper with red protective webbing. I'm keeping it sealed until I figure out what I'm doing with it and trying to talk myself out of buying 2-3 more as spares.

It's pretty cold out today but I shot some 77s though mine at 100 yards prone from a rest with bags. I think it's more accurate than this but with a 7x scope I shot 6 rounds into about 1.5"

I haven't cleaned it yet and have about 150 rounds on it now. I think with some more testing itll do better but 1.5 or less was what I had in mind anyways

Yeah.....something isn't right with that big of a fire sale. Either they're going under or something big is coming out during SHOT....
It was a sale I found through ‘gun.deals’. The item shows out of stock with the regular price of $160. AR-10 handguards still in stock, with a normal price.

Armalite didn't used to be that way but I do get what you're saying.

I wrote them an email asking about new products, if they went to SHOT and if they were going out of business. I doubt I'll hear back but I will post their response if I get one.
