Has anyone or does anyone use any type of adhesive, sealent or other product between the rail and action to prevent moisture from getting between the two and starting rust?

Both my AI and TRG came with their rails loctite/glued/epoxied on. Not sure if they were worried about moisture or simply trying to "lock" components together. I've used devcon that I used for bedding to skim rails on some guns.

I do think that a lot of times many of these things are not needed, but at the same time I've chased enough "phantom" problems that I try to remove any whenever possible. Bedding/loctite etc on a rail to the action might not help, but it will never hurt.

My most recent phantom issue was I could not figure out why a Mega 6.5 AR I built just would not shoot and I noticed the Seekins MXM cantilever mount was slipping on the rail within it's slot. As it turns out on this particular Mega large frame upper the rail seems slightly undersized and it was just enough that the seekins mount clamps had bottomed so that it felt tight when torqued, but without enough holding force under recoil. I run those mounts on 2 other guns and I checked them and the rail clamps show just the smallest gap from being bottomed out. It showed me that for example with the MXM mount if your rail is undersized at all the clamp design will not hold. Put another mount on and it shot lights out.

Just one more reason my AI and TRG now wear direct mount Sphur mounts, I've seen plenty of issues with rails over the years, if you can get rid of it, all the better in my mind, but clearly tons and tons of guns shoot lights out with rails with and without being sealed/glued on.
