Is 100yds enough distance to consistently see trace? And a follow up question can you see trace through a scope?

What caliber are you trying to see trace with? 6mm at 3k fps is like less than a 1/10th of a second tof, good luck with those.
Seeing trace at 100 yards is possible with a spotting scope or binos but as pointed out above it's so dang fast that you don't see much other than the zip of the bullet and the impact all at once. 300 yards you start to see more, there's a bit more trajectory arc to look at and a bit more time to see and the farther you go out the easier it is to see it. Once you get out to 800-900s and beyond then the trace gets a bit harder to see all the way to the target since there is a lot of trajectory and the bullet really falls out of the sky in the last few hundred yards.
As to whether you can see trace through a scope (I'm assuming you mean rifle scope as the shooter), yes you can. It's a learned skill that takes recoil management (or a lighter recoil gun) and knowing when and where to look in the reticle. The correct lighting conditions help too.
trace at 100 is kinda hard because it happens so fast.
I also see trace in my rifle scope if conditions are right.

The first time I saw my own trace in my scope...I was like WTF was that? And the guys around me busted out laughing...it was a joke I didn't know I was a part of....now...it is much easier for me to see...since I know what to look for and I'm not playing the Max Mag game.
