I just picked up an SWFA SS 5-20X50HD and I was wonder if Seekin's low rings on a 20moa Seekin's base would work for a Remington 700 AAC-SD? I want the scope as low as possible while still having the ability to put scope caps on. Thanks
I bought one set of used Seekins rings and liked them so much, I bought a second pair for a second rifle. They are low profile, solid and light. Really good piece of equipment.
I had this setup for a while on my 700. If you have a varmint contour barrel it is likely that you will need to do some trimming on the BC cover to get it to fit without touching the barrel. I had to on mine.
Seekins lows and Seekins 20 moa bases have worked every time on my 50mm NF scopes, except one, and the barrel had a longer shank/cylinder section.
Rob's advice on the mediums would probably be your best bet, especially with the BC caps.
I have a 700P and a Vortex PST 4-16x50mm, and was told to go with Medium height Seekins rings (which I did), and it's about as close as I'd want to get.
I've had these scopes in low seekins on 20moa seekins short action rails with the same contour barrel as yours and both fit fine with Butler Creeks.
This pic is without the creeks but with them on, there is about 3/32" clearance which is plenty.
