im interested in installing the seekins detachable mag kit on my SPS tactical in .308.. i see on the website minor alterations to the stock are required but im unable to upload the file for direction.

so my questions are is this a simple aleration to the stock i can do myself?

where can i find this kit for sale?

is there an option to run 10 round mags?

i searched and found a few posts that were old and seemed out dated thanks in advance!

Re: seekins bottom metal

He had a DBM kit that I'll call "first generation" that used proprietary 5 round mags. I inlet it into my B&C A5 with a dremel and a file. It just took time (four nights) and some careful measurements.

I believe he has a new DBM coming out that will accept AI mags.

If you have someone close by that has the ability, just give it to them to inlet and save the stress and headaches about filing .003 here, .001 there and trying like hell not to overshoot.

Re: seekins bottom metal

kentactic,

I going to run the original Seekins BM on my new build. My rifle is currently with Old Lodge Armory (Hide member triple 6) who is installing it and as well as doing other work.

Frankly I find the simplicity of it's single feed mag design, and the ability to load to 2.940" COAL more of an asset, than losing the ability to load more than 5 rounds is a detriment.

I found very few Courses of fire at tactical matches that require more than 5 rounds, and if needed changing mags is no biggie when necessary.

It's a very good DBM system.

the purpose for having the 10 round magazine is to make the rifle able to "mingle" some what in the shorter range role of combat. obviously its no AR/AK but its something id like to have for some adaptability.

if i decide to go with the 5 round mags now will the new 10rnd mags coming out work with it?

and how much are the 5rnd mags by themself and can they be had seperatly from the same distributors?

and does the fact that im running a B&C stock change anything?

Re: seekins bottom metal

Ken,

Seekins will have two BM options:

First version is the original which takes a special 5 rounder only, and is proprietary to Seekins. These mags cost $59.99 are directly from Seekins.

As seen here:
Seekins DBM - Original

The second version from Seekins takes standard AI or AI clone mags, in five or ten round versions.

as shown here:

Seekins AICS Mag System

If combat is your desire, then a DBM that accepts AICS mags is the way to go.
