Good morning everyone, I recently got my SP10 from Cabelas (had a few 100 in gift cards over the years). Apparently they still have the older models in stock, the PRS stock etc.

I wanted the PRS stock etc, but I've noticed a few difference from other picture threads, such as my firing pin does not have a spring like others I've seen, what's the deal with that? Can anyone advise what else they changed with the new model?

Here's the range in my back yard, its 100m laser distanced to the rear target, 48m to the middle targets.

I tried 6 different ammunitions from 120gr to 147gr. Everything fed fine except for a few of the Hornady American Gunner would not chamber. 5/50 of them would not chamber despite multiple attempts. All 5 fired from my Tac A1 with no trouble.

Accuracy? Eh... I was not very impressed... ok I know, you gotta find the load your gun likes, but for a 2.5k AR10 I expected at least MOA. Maybe barrel needs to be broken in a bit more.

This, and the top right pic, were 143gr Hornady Precision Hunter. Seemed to be the load it liked best. Anyone else seeing better groups, some of these were REALLY bad??

As a side note, I was shooting 3/4-1/2 inch groups with my TAC A1 so I don't think it's me.

Excuses: it was about 34 degrees, light rain, my tool box is a shit rifle rest, etc. I'm gonna clean it and take it out for a second round next week. I only did 10 rounds of each ammo except the American gunner. We are a 75rds down the pipe now.

Seekins SP10
Bushnell DMR2 Horus 59
Warne Mount 0 Moa
Atlas Bipod + rear sandbag

Needs so far: better trigger, dead air mount for my can.

Second KimberGuy, I have owned one of these rifles and it shot sub MOA.... I personally feel a gas gun is harder to run and less forgiving than a bolt. I really have to focus on what I am doing when driving a gas gun. Here is one of my groups from my 6.5 sp-10. I can’t remember if it was 500 or 600. But with my 130 ELD-M loads it would shoot .6 groups at distance

Have you shot a 308 semi much before. They are harder to shoot accurately. The online training really helps they go over it in detail

Yeah I had a DPMS G2 Recon for a while, a lot better than I expected from DPMS. It was 1 moa with 168 FGMM. I've been a bolt guy other than my AR15s and stuff I use for work. It definitely feels different and it's a bit strange to me. I'm gonna try taking it to a local range with tables. I would have shot prone but it was soaked outside. Hard to plan stuff when you are LE, especially with the holidays. A lot of surprise work days.

As for the other stuff, anyone able to tell me what changes they made from this model to the current model? And maybe why?

Bonus of the family... (a few of em at least)

Very good. Did you tune the gas block?

You don't see many people talking about seekins accuracy. I wish padom or some other known quantity would do a range report with 5x5 targets and report back. I bought a couple 223 and 300blk seekins uppers but haven't had time to shoot them for accuracy.

Lol... I forgot the Allen key when I went to the range... I have 2 houses and I didnt feel like driving back, it's on my list for next time. Also thinking of trying a monopod. Never used one and in curious.

Appreciate the input. My brake will be here weds, my ergo grio and SSA-E trigger are here and installed already (huge improvement). Hopefully rain permitting I'll get it out on the range Monday. Finally got my other guns up on gunbroker for some extra cash to get more ammo. Gonna miss the savage 10fcp-sr and the dpms g2 recon but oh well.

Bit of a resurrection, but I finally got the rifle tuned up and tested at a 600y range.

2 shots got it on the x at 200y, and it was too easy to make hits out 600y. 140gr Hornady was holding moa or less pretty easily. This was also my suppressor visitation day.

7 months into my wait. This govt bullshit is getting on my nerves. Unfortunately I couldn't get pictures because 1 I'm lazy and didnt want to walk out there and 2 other people were hitting the same steel.

What pistol fan is that? Looks quiet

Post some 5 round groups up!
Dead Air Ghost 45 Modular. It can be unscrewed in half and put to a K configuration. It also can use wipes to cut the sound more. In it's long config with the wipe I can say I'm pretty sure my nail gun is louder.

Yeah I wanted grouping pics but I was being lazy and others were shooting the same plates. The rifle can is Deadair Sandman S.

I’ve been wondering what’s been updated with the new version 2. From looking online all I can see is the trigger and the stock though. There should have been an everyday sniper podcast where they talk about the features of the new one but didn’t really answer my questions as far as a side by side comparison is concerned

I would forego the monopod definitely more trouble than they are worth, I would utilize a rear bag instead. I would also recommend you practice your shooting techniques, when shooting prone or from a bench use your non firing hand to grip your bicep and use the cradle in your wrist from your non-firing hand to support the rear of the rifle.

From some of the disassembly stuff I'v seen, the firing pin has a spring on it now, in house stock, diff trigger, and some other minor changes but I havent gotten a solid answer as to exact difference or why.

This is how I've been shooting, as well as a bag. Was just considering trying one but I havent felt the urge to pay for one yet. Testing the magpul bipod on my MPR atm.

I have a new version SP10 with the in house stock and timney trigger, and there is no spring on the firing pin. From talking to a rep at Seekins, I was told the firing pin spring was only on their first gen model. If you want to compare anything else just let me know.

5 round groups?

I took it out last weekend and got pissed off. A friend of mine has a field capable of 800 yards and we set some steel up. I took my R700 308 in KRG w SWFA HD, my Christensen MPR 6.5 CM with vortex AMG, my SP10 6.5cm and my Tikka Tac A1 in 6.5 cm.

R700, my primary rifle I shoot I calc'd up the wind average and drop, clicked it all in and boom first round hit at 600, took 1 round due to unforeseen wind shift then I was on at 800. (Also helps when you arent stupid and dont forget yards vs meters on the range finder. Held under MOA no problem.

Christensen came up, first long range outing since getting a rough zero and making sure the barrel was consistent since they replaced it. 143gr Precison Hunter, this is my hunting rifle for this upcoming season. First shot hits out to 600, my muzzle velocity was a bit off and it took me 2 extra to get on at 800. Stupid accurate, all 4 people I was out with were hitting 100% having never fired it. Very pleased with it now.

SP10 currently equipped with Bushnell DMR2 Mil/Mil in a warne 0moa AR mount. After shooting the first 2 I was disappointed. Dialed in my dope at 400. Miss. Verify and try again. Miss x2, then 1 hit. Alright let's back it up to my 200m target and check zero. 3 rounds touching just to the right of the X, next 2 stacked on top of each other about 2 inches low left. 140gr Hornady American Gunner. When I zeroed (previously) with it the same ammo I put 10 rounds in an inch. And called it good. So today, I couldn't get shit for a group. Swapped to the 140gr Match, tried to rezero. 4 rounds touching. 5 went wild, tried a 6th and it was touching 5. I verified mount was torqued and scope. Got pissed off and put it up for the day. I'm planning to retorque barrel and try a different optic.

Tac A1 was dead nuts, almost identical trajectory with 140gr bulkas my MPR with 143 PH. 5 rounds on steel at 800 under 5 inches. I'm happy with all my other rifles but I guess I need to mess more with the SP10.

I let the rest of my group shoot it and mess around and they experienced similar incidents. Verify zero, let it cool a bit, itll hit then suddenly zero shifts. Had a retired marine, one of my partners from the Sheriff's Dept and 2 others. And they are all good shots. I've been trying to mess with the gas and other stuff... ill update when I try again.

Well its been a long time since this was updated. I was initially very angry with this rifle and it was even pulling bullets out of cases. Come to find out it was out of head space. Sent it to seekins and it came back with a new bolt and carrier, different from the one it initially came with. Turn around time was pretty quick. The rifle is under MOA with several loads I've tried now. In fact I shoot my first competition with it earlier this year and took first for the beginner division by a decent couple points and got kicked from that division.

During open division my issue was more handgun related killing my points than rifle related but I was still finishing among the top shooters on the rifle courses. A glock 19 roland setup just wasn't doing me any favors with the 100 meter plates. Anyways, I was doing well this year till I was in a bad wreck and work and I currently can't shoot due to my neck damage. But I had received a few messages about this rifle and wanted to update and show that its 100% now.

I upgraded to ARCA and in training I loved it, unfortunately I have not been able to field it in competition since I did the upgrades.

And for those who are curious, here's my wreck, it made the news:
