Sellier and Bellot 140 gr. 6.5 Creedmoor

I purchased a few boxes last summer and was impressed, which then led me to purchase a case of 500 last August. I watched for good prices on them through the winter and picked up 2 more flats of 500. There are some horror stories about this ammunition (pictured above), but I have been lucky so far with the batches I have received.

I picked up a case of 200 after shooting 100 of it and getting pretty good results.

I got it at like $15 a box so it was a cheap option and I've seen diff vids of guys getting decent results.

I figured I'd get budget ammo for my budget AR10 build. When I got it dialed in, I was getting sub moa groups pretty consistently, its pretty consistent stuff.

avg speed of 2550 fps coming out of the 16" PSA.

So does it shoot long distance? Yeah, It'll work. Ive shot it out to 1008 yards, and it'll do that all day long. so for a cheap range ammo, I'd keep shooting it. I used a kestrel to figure out the aprox dope that I then verified. I usually use the hornady 4dof app , but the S&B bullet isnt in there, so I can't really use it, I just trued the trajectory at a few distances and then reverse engineer the dope from there, and then reconfirmed with the kestrel.

Its more involved than the Hornady 4 dof app, but works.

I'm switching over to hornady gunner 140gr HPBT rounds because honestly it ist that much more and I can get really dead on dope with the 4DOF app and I wanna push it So f it, why not?

Now that first batch of 100 rounds that I had 6 blown out primers, so that wasnt cool, I wasn't sure if it was the ammo or not, but then I got a diff lot of ammo and had no issues with those 200 rounds.

Overall,

The S&B Tactical 140gr stuff is accurate and consistent cheap ammo if you wanna just wanna have fun at the range. It works.

I've included the 5 shot groups I get out of my PSA 6.5 Ar10. decent results, Think what you'd get out of a better barrel.

Sent you a PM on 'reverse' engineering experience with SnB. Thanks man

Reviving old thread. I have a 500 round case of this stuff and it shoots pretty good out of my Tikka. However it is difficult to extract. Bolt lift is easy and the primers look fine but case extraction from the chamber requires a pretty firm fist bump to get it out. Maybe the brass is softer than it should be? I dont have another 6.5 gun handy to try it in so Im not 100% certain its specific to my gun.

i had the same issue with my factory tikka barrel. not much of an issue tho. Shot fine.

I’ve saved all my S&B brass and now on its 4th reload out of a PVA barrel. No splitting cases or anything, yet. Primer pockets still tight.

My Cadex had no issue at all but my brother's Q Fix was terrible. Had to keep a rubber mallet on hand to beat it open. But it was .60cpr delivered and shot sub moa so what are you gonna do?

Any issues with continuing to shoot it? The primers seem flattened just a bit but very minimal. Bolt stick is very annoying tho especially considering I have 400+ more rounds to chew thru.

Shot a bunch of it 12+ times without issue.
All of the brass I used needed the primer pocket crimp removed before I could get the primers seated. In fact, I ended up having to uniform the pocket depth also. The brass works, but with the weight variances, I moved on

eagly eye and snb I had no god luck with either of then though all the snb fired so Id say it's better than eagle eye plinking to smacking steel it should work fine . best of luck with them .

I have shot bit of S&B in various auto pistols and always found it to be pretty good bang for the $. Clean, accurate, consistent and a little less spendy than some others. Has anyone shot enough of their 140 gr. 6.5 CM ammo to form an opinion for use as range fodder?

Thanks in advance!

VooDoo
I have two 6.5 cm rifles and they both shoot the S&B great I have hunted with them for the last couple of years. the 140sp shoots sub moa at 100yds I mostly hunt swamp areas where shots are at less than 100yds but I shoot a nice 8 point at 135yds in the neck dropped in his tracks !
