Have an IMI 308 galil AR with the box/cleaning kit/ manual and stuff. Always wanted an m40a1. GAP rifles are looking good. Curently have an m24 so an A1 should go good with it right? Stupid idea? What are galils brining nowadays?

If you're gonna get an M40A1, this is a great time to do it... there are currently scope bases being made, and U.S. Optics is going to do a limited run of MST-100 scopes. These were both very difficult to find in the past!

DO NOT lose an original Galil to obtain a clone of a bolt gun... especially if you already have an M24.

If you use the Galil, then it's probably not smart to sell it. If youve always wanted an M40A1, then now is the time to get in on one before the clone parts become unobtainable again. You'll have to determine what you'll do to afford the latter yourself.
Ive debated on it for years, I haven't shot it in 3 years give or take. I don't think Ive had a full mag through it. Mostly due to fear of broken parts, bad looks at tge range ect..
Ignoring the first half of the question and focusing on the important part. Yes you are stupid.
If you haven't shot it in 3 years, and have not put a full mag through it... I doubt your gonna miss it.
Sell it and get the M40A1 while the scopes and mounts are available.
