Have an IMI 308 galil AR with the box/cleaning kit/ manual and stuff. Always wanted an m40a1. GAP rifles are looking good. Curently have an m24 so an A1 should go good with it right? Stupid idea? What are galils brining nowadays?

DO NOT lose an original Galil to obtain a clone of a bolt gun... especially if you already have an M24.

Sell the Galil and do the M40 and get a cheap AK to replace the Galil…. They do make stupid money!

Wishing I had bought a Galil and a Daewoo back in the day!

You gotta be ON IT...

Also- the kits that came in a while back gave many of us a chance to obtain even what was never imported:

If you use the Galil, then it's probably not smart to sell it. If youve always wanted an M40A1, then now is the time to get in on one before the clone parts become unobtainable again. You'll have to determine what you'll do to afford the latter yourself.

Ive debated on it for years, I haven't shot it in 3 years give or take. I don't think Ive had a full mag through it. Mostly due to fear of broken parts, bad looks at tge range ect..View attachment 8651887
If you haven't shot it in 3 years, and have not put a full mag through it... I doubt your gonna miss it.
Sell it and get the M40A1 while the scopes and mounts are available.

i got a pile of AKs i got into before prices skyrocketed and build kits dried up. i like them for what they are, i never shoot them ..... been thinking about dumping all AK stuff and being out of it completely.

Same here. I occasionally shoot my Norinco and. My Krink. But the rest are wall hangers.

Fun, but unless engaged in a guerrilla conflict… just range blasters.

Was it Jack O’Conner who said “Only accurate rifles interest me?” Thats why we live here on SH not ARFcom.

the pull towards "beware the man with only one gun, he probably knows how to use it" is strong on many days.

ive gravitated to one AR that is my go-to ranch truck gun, and have too many bolt guns. i think i need to whittle them down, bigly.

It was Jack to the best of my knowledge

Every MidwayUSA ad I’ve ever seen started or ended with Larry P saying some variant of “Townsend Whelen said only accurate rifles are interesting…” He, apparently, wrote a whole article about it…

This has long stuck in my head because of my desire for a Ruger No1, with a mannlicher stock, chambered in 35 Whelen.
