Rifle Scopes serious rangefinder--found one?

I went with the Bushnell 1500, which worked pretty good for a month or so, but now for some reason (not battery) can't seem to find target outside 400 yds. (lens cleaned) Just wondering who's found the best ranger out to 1500 yards n how long have they had it. thanks.

I owned the 1500 Bushnell and wasn't too impressed with the ranging either.

I recently got a Swaro and although not perfect,it ranges quite well.I ranged a 15.5" steel,painted white,on a sunny day,at 1096 yards.

Here in the next month or so I'll see how it does father out on steels that are bigger but painted red.

Next step up in ranging is mucho moneyo.

I am wrapping up a review of several LRF's. Included are the Bushnell Legend 1200, Elite 1500, Leica and Swaro.

When it all boils down to it, you get what you pay for. The Swaro kicked butt. The 1500 was acceptable for a "cheap" LRF. The 1200 will work for hunting, but really is not what a "long range" shooter is after.

I still would like to get ahold of a Zeiss to round out the top end. I may work on that next month.

To answer your question, I had no problems ranging targets past 400 yards with the 1500 in just about any light condition. I did not try them in pouring rain though. The LRF's were owned by another member here, and I felt I owed it to him not to drown his gear.

I had a chance to use one of these (it belonged to my shooting partner) out at Gunsite's Extreme Long Range course and it was simply amazing. We used it to 1650 yards but it seemed capable of going much farther. It performed flawlessly, and it's readings - even way out there - were extremely repeatable. It seems tough as nails, too.

Alas, went to Cabela's and their new guarantee (as of 1st of this month) means they no longer credit or exchange optics. We took mine and a duplicate (new) and the swar ($900) and the lecia 1200 outside for a test. mine wouldn't range anything past 300 yards, the new one ranged to 1045 (which mine did new) and the swar has a terrible color readout that required finding a dark background to even read. the Lecia won, but I'm forced to deal with bushnell, which after being on hold for 30 minutes to even speak to a human, I'm through with Bushnell. (and Cabela's for optics as well) Define mucho money.... I don't mind paying the price if the product and the service are worth it.

Been looking for one myself.I do know 2 things about em though,1.The company is affiliated with/a division of Leica and 2.They are very expensive!
Despite the price,I still would like to add one to the collection due to rugged construction and range/accuracy of the unit itself.

Most of the Vectronix are probably gonna be hard to get, they make the Viper which is the standard issue Range Finder for the Army I had one when I was an FO and we used them just recently in Sniper School. They can range pretty dang far i've ranged past 2 km with them, and they can tell you angle and azimuth.

I think the cheaper model PLRF-10 is around $3500.

How far you want to go? I have had my geovids out to 1400 a few times without issue.

The leica vector is big, heavy and totally awesome.

It is also overkill for target shooting or hunting unless you're shooting a .50cal at very long range.

They are listed at ranging to 4000m under suitable conditions. I've ranged 2500m on a building no problem, and 1500m on a tree, and I've only just started playing with it.

Well I'm finding out Bushnell isn't even listing the 1500 on their site, which must say something. At $3500 ea. I suppose I better stay in the 'cheap' range as far as the vic goes.

Note: I did however get a prompt response and quote for the PLRF-10 @ $3500.00 with extended warranty @ $125/yr up to 4 years. Pretty costy but might have to start saving or take along the NF mildot scope to range with. Thanks for all the input.
