Hey guys,

Cabelas Canada is carrying a limited edition version of the CTR that comes with a different stock, muzzle brake, and set trigger option. I understand the set trigger allows for 7/9 oz breaks when it is engaged by pushing the trigger forward. This sounds great, but I have been told the primary trigger isn't as adjustable as a result and am concerned that the regular trigger will not be able to be adjusted down to ~2-3 pounds. Does the set trigger offer any advantage in PRS or other matches? Or is it more of a gimmick that should be avoided by opting for the regular Tikka?

I have a couple CZ's with set triggers and love 'em. I've used the set trigger on the rimfire in CMP (three position) matches and its muscle memory once you practice doing it. But, there is plenty of time in those matches!
For shooting PRS style matches, I wouldn't want to deal with having to manipulate a set trigger along with everything else going on in a match.

Ok, are there any trade offs with the set trigger? Or is the primary trigger still adjustable to a decent weight?

I personally don't see any big trade-offs. On my 527 the primary is set to about 2-2.5 lbs and the set trigger is about 8 oz.

The primary is nowhere near the feel of my Trigger Tech Diamond on my PRS rifle, but no other factory triggers are.

I don't have any Tikkas, but for varmint shooting and the occasional CMP match, I really like the CZ SST's on those two rifles.
