@Skeptic1 i hear that. Between putting mine down last week and actually paying attention to how people have been driving the last couple months I’m about 60/40 on selling/keeping mine.

The AT is such a fun bike. It now wears the givi boxes the CB had. Sold the CB due to size. I’m a big guy and it’s a small bike. I look forward to camping off of it this fall on the MABDR.I have a ‘17 AT. Love it!
No interest in doing them yourself?View attachment 8219627
i took a bunch of the stuff off it the original owner had on. made and added the fringe. i have to get the cam chain tensioners done, but finding someone trustworthy is proving to be a smidge bit difficult.
honda crf300LWell gents I totaled my 2023 KLR 650 being a retard. Loan is getting wiped out by coverage.
Thinking a DRZ400S or maybe a used F800GS.
Keeping it under 10k OTD anyone have any good suggestions for a reliable dirt capable bike that won't totally suck ass on the street? DRZ400 is definitely viby but I'd be ok with that for the low weight and offroad capability.
I'm too fat for a 300L. Would badly need suspension right out the gate. And it's got less power than the DRZ. I'd much rather have a DRZ over a 300L.honda crf300L
I owned a modded DRZ 400sm for quite a few years. I loved that thing like no other bike, but damn did it need a sixth gear on the open road. I avoided highways like the plague on mine. If I were in the market today, I'd very likely go KTM EXC for the wide ratio six speed box.Well gents I totaled my 2023 KLR 650 being a retard. Loan is getting wiped out by coverage.

Yamaha T7 will be pushing the budget OTD but is on my very short list for next bike.Well gents I totaled my 2023 KLR 650 being a retard. Loan is getting wiped out by coverage.

Lucked into it cheap and couldn't help but relive my big bore enduro youth with electric start and less broken bones.Nice!
My first bike was a 650 special.

600 Mile Camping trip this past weekend:
I considered a T7 but they are huge. Very top heavy. Shorter range than other bikes in their class due to low fuel capacity. Good bikes but the more I dug into people's reviews who offroaded with them a lot, the more I found people saying it's simply too top heavy for it's own good.Yamaha T7 will be pushing the budget OTD but is on my very short list for next bike.
Love mine as well, even if I have only been on it 3 times this year.
yup, lots of interest in doing them myself. problem being, i didnt want to be the guy that got it apart and wasnt able to get it back together. No interest in doing them yourself?
I put cams in my Wife’s big twin last winter.
Wasn’t too bad if you’ve got a torque wrench.
Fair enough.yup, lots of interest in doing them myself. problem being, i didnt want to be the guy that got it apart and wasnt able to get it back together.
it was a giant pain in the ass to find someone i could trust to work on it though. that's why i'd rather do it myself-but i am new to twin cams and don't have a dedicated garage space to do it. which was another BIG reason i was hesitant to tackle it. i just KNOW someone or something would have fucked with my work space and moved a part on me if i couldn't get it back together the same day. and i would have had to beat someone for that. severely.
This is why I ended up going with my BMW g650. 4.2 gallon tank under the seat. 50-70mpg depending on how I ride. Lots of range. Lower CoG and a real treat to ride compared to the more top-heavy bikes.I considered a T7 but they are huge. Very top heavy. Shorter range than other bikes in their class due to low fuel capacity. Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is what I'd like to get, but it's a little out of my budget for the time being. I'm considering waiting until next year when I could probably afford it. A DRZ400 was on my short list to have as a second bike for more serious offroad use.
There are a couple things you need to keep in mind when shopping for one, besides where to find a milk crate.Everything I've heard about the KLR is that they are pretty much the go-to in that category. What don't you like about yours?
I've been looking to pick up a used one if I find one for the right price
That's a good looking 650!This is why I ended up going with my BMW g650. 4.2 gallon tank under the seat. 50-70mpg depending on how I ride. Lots of range. Lower CoG and a real treat to ride compared to the more top-heavy bikes.
Yeah those 800's are really smooth with their parallel twin. Those panniers are at least $600 each side. That's a good looking 650!
A dealer local to me has a 2014 F800GS with 22k on the clock. Has hard panniers on it. Probably gonna go look at it Saturday and see how much they want OTD. I'm very tempted on snagging it since the old 800s are known for being smooth, comfy and reliable. Lots of aftermarket parts too.
I checked the VIN and it's got every option you could get for the regular GS. ESA, Dynamic package, and the side racks and heated grips plus center stand and crash bars.Yeah those 800's are really smooth with their parallel twin. Those panniers are at least $600 each side.
What cam is in there?Just got back home from a big circle down to the border. Left Minnesota, made it to Kadoka , SD that night, then to Lamar, CO the next night. My cousin from Lubbock, TX met me there. Next day rode out to Gunnison, next day down through Pagosa Springs and out into New Mexico. Spent that night just north of Santa Fe. Next night in Cloudcroft, next day through El Paso then down to Alpine. The following day down to Presidio, then along the River Road over to Terlingua, then Study Butte and back up to Alpine. Then to Lubbock for one night. I left there and overnighted in Coffeyville, KS, and again in Ames, IA, then home. 4010 miles. No rain till last day a few sprinkles. Bike ran great and got 41-ish MPG. Not too bad what with the cam and injectors that are in it. Saw lots of nice country.

Woods 22-XD and 5.5 gram injectors. No Cat. Powervision PV-3B. Pulls real hard. Here's how it sounds at idle. Sounds like a small block Chevy above 3500.What cam is in there?
I had a Woods 22x in my RG with the D&D Billet Cat and that combo was responsible for a lot of smiles!

Same reasons I won't ride on the street anymore. EVERY time I rode, I was almost hit and had to take evasive action to avoid idiots. Takes the fun out of riding.I've had this beauty since March. I can't do it anymore. Too many idiots texting and terrible drivers. It will be gone Monday.View attachment 8248924
Just finished it during the last week of September on a KLRI will be leaving in a few weeks to ride the Oregon BDR. I did the Utah BDR 2 years ago and it was pretty amazing.
