Re: Shooting - bolt up
Windage becomes elevation and elevation becomes windage. You will have an offset, which should be determined before serious use. Initially, you will be low and your windage will be towards the scope. If you simply roll to 90 degrees and shoot a group, you can log the offset, then dial it on to get a zero. Once that is done, you elevations will be so close to the same as to not matter, you just dial them on the windage knob. Do this both 90 deg left and right, though it should be the same amounts in the opposite directions.
There are a couple of issues.
First, I would zero windage to includ the scope height above the bore. In other words, if your scope is to the left, the zero point should be xx inches left, dead on elevation. If not, when you go to a longer range you will be progressivly increaseing the windage error due to the scope no longer being over the centerline of the bore.
Second, be aware that you will probably have limited 'elevation' available in the knob, so know your hold overs from whatever range you can actually dial on.
