Shooting glasses

I am looking to buy a new pair of shooting glasses. I have had Oakley m frames for the past 10 years. It is time to retire them. They will be used for multi gun and tactical long range matches. What is everyone using and what do you suggest.

The ESS Suppressors are pretty nice. I have a pair with the amber tint and it's very clear. Fits under ear muffs well too.

Do the smart thing, retire your old M frames...............and get new ones.

Poke53, I'm in a similar boat.

I have 3 pairs I bought in '98 (Wiley-X original Sabers and a pair of Protective Optics Inc which are also Wiley-X). They are marked Z87 which means ANSI Z87.1-1989 which have not only been replaced with a higher standard but these are not rated to high impact or military impact standards available today. Hence my desire to replace them.

I'm drawn to ESS as well with their Crossbow and ICE frames. But I'm also considering goggles too that I might be able to wear over my Rx eyewear. Dunno yet.....

Have you made a decision?

Another vote for going back to Oakley. If you are military or LE, got to standardissue.com Can't beat the discount they offer.

I really like my ESS shooting glasses. The best thing I can say is that I just forget I am wearing them, they are that comfortable and optically clear. The VA online PX had them for about $35 for the x2 package, a great deal.

I just picked up a pair of Oakley Flak Jackets with the persimmon lenses. Ive been a life long Oakley guy. They are just good glasses. I ordered them through the custom shop as they didn't offer the black frames with the persimmon lenses.

Check out Rudy projects. I had oakleys and they are great glasses but when I tried on the Rudy projects I've never worn oakleys since. I have Rudy rydons. Good luck.

Another vote for ESS here. Just got my Suppressor X2 kit last night and like was said above, you forget you're wearing them, even with muffs on.

Good point about wearing the ESS with muffs. They have a slim and VERY adjustable temple piece that slips between your noggin and muffs with no interference.

I traded my Oakley M-Frames for ESS Crossbows and I won't be going back. The different coatings on either side of the ESS glasses sealed the deal for me.

I have a pair of ESS crossbows and I love them.

I even ordered some prescription inserts from ESS and they work great. The ballistic lens doesnt sit as close to your face with the insert but it still looks good.

I normally never wore a prescription insert, but I figure if i get it I can take these hunting with me. Now I have the added benefit of safety and I have better than 20/20 vision with the inserts... which helps when trying to spot animals in the distance.

IMO the best shooting/safety glasses are the ones I get from work. Why cos I get three color choices for different weather conditions and I don't really mind if they get scratched or lost in the field cos their free

ESS CDI's are way better than M frames-

I switched from oakley polarized to ESS CDI's because they were more clear, and I see the lenses less and everything else more.

Can civilians order the ESS glasses? Retailers seem to be limited to LE and Military according to the web site. I do tend to get headaches from my sunglasses putting pressure above the ears.....any idea if the ESS Ice with the pliable ear bands apply less pressure than the ESS Suppressors (or Crossbows)?
