Short throat/COAL?

I know this is a reloading forum, but most non-reloaders won’t know what I’m talking about.

New 6.5creed barrel is hitting the lands at 2.792” with the 140gr smk. This seems short, but may be in spec (not sure what spec is)? Anyone else have to seat these bullets below 2.800?

That does seem a little short, even for a 140 MK which has a fairly long BTO. If it's an unfired barrel, the free bore on a Creedmoor is very close to the bullet diameter and could make it hard to get an accurate measurement.
