Anyone have experience shooting a custom throated 30 nosler with a shorter barrel (less than 24")
I'm looking to run one suppressed for long range elk hunting.
I'd like to know what sort of velocity I could expect with 200-230 grain bullets from a 22-23" barrel

I ran a 24” barrel. Getting 2950 with 210 VLD and about 2830-2860 with 220 Scenar (seating depth dependent). I woukd expect you to be in the 2800 fos range, but I dont typically run my pressures on the high-er side. I used both Retumbo and H1000. Hooe this helps even a little.

PS - I have seen some high velocities posted (3100 plus). Not sure how people are getting those numbers as they do not match load data and I got pressure signs ans stiff bolt when i exceeded 3000-3050 fos with 210-215 gr bullets,

Thanks
Is this with a saami throat, or were you seating at the boatail/neck junction?
I'm thinking with a shorter barrel faster powders would maybe get more speed..

Agree with Elite-KG, I also would stay with 210-215 not much need to go heavier. They flat out kill stuff.
