Took the rebarreld rifle out for it's first trip to the big range.

Finally got out and stretched her legs a little today. Did some shooting at 300 and 600. Three hundred was actually a little unnerving. Brutal low angle sun in the face, I was thinking about getting a towel to drape over me like an old school photographer. I only fired 8 rounds there, I was shooting at a 600 yard target and didn't seem to be able to hold the X-ring. Really annoyed me. The the guy pulling came back and said if we were shooting for groups I'd have won, I had bunched them almost touching at 2 o'clock. OK, just needed to dial it in.

Then moved to 600. At 600 I scored it like I was shooting a 15 shot match. Took 4 sighters, then shot a 146-6X, and I know exactly why I dropped 3 of the 4. I was watching the left side 300 yard flag and didn't see the right side one come up, figured I must have pulled the first shot, then did it again, got another 9 and then noticed the flag on the right. (how many times have I pulled for someone who has done the same thing, don't believe the shot till you get 2 out there) Dialed it, shot an X, then talked myself out of taking it off when the flag drooped 9-9-X-9-10... Hey, but that's why we practice.

Yup... Hit the spindle when the disc is in the 9 ring. Maybe there IS something out there!

Congratulations awesome shooting man. I went and watched my first 600 yard F Class comp a week and a half ago at Ben Avery a Local range in Phoenix AZ. Got to meet alot of outstanding guys and am anticipating getting out and competing. Also, when I say outstanding I mean people let me check out gear gave me tips and made me feel very welcomed as Im just getting started in longrange.

Just like I said, anytime you want to practice, just shout at me. Next time, write the number down! But seriously, just let me know, willing to help.

Hey, I've been thinking about becoming a member at oak ridge, I was just wondering if you can use the 1000 yard range anytime or only when they are having practice days?

You can use the range any time it's not scheduled for someone/something. (Monday afternoons/evenings we do squadded 1000 practice)

The only problem is finding someone to pull for you. You have to shoot paper targets in the target stands, no steel anywhere on the club, so you can't see your hits unless you are using a big shoot n see. Even my Leica 65x spotter can't spot hits at 600.

    Nice shooting anyway. </div></div>

It would have been a picture of a 600 yard target with the middle covered with pasters.

There were 3 of us shooting. We took turns with one guy pulling and the other two guys switch firing on the same target.

Nice shooting. We all start somewhere my friend. Something that helps before I go to a match dry firing at thumb tack in the wall across the room (naturally making sure the damn weapon is not loaded first).
