went to the local place with hide member creature. shot 154 rounds on an empty range. low 60s, still as can be. 4 and 5 round groups (dont ask) but every 0.2g from 42g to 45.8g in lake city match brass, once fired. using varget. bolt got stiff at 45g and would not lift. wiggled it a bit, it came loose and i finished the other 3 rounds. went to 45.8g, max is 46g in the book. it was actually smoother after 45g, everything else fired fine. savage 4 round mag was had a few hang ups and didnt want to feed. the SSS 9 round was flawless. absolutely flawless. there was no pressure signs in the brass. primers all looked good. i only loaded up to 45.8g just shy of the max. and with mil brass i have to compensate right?
well i loaded more 42g than anything else. just to shoot and sight in. first shot at a blank backside of a man silhouette then i milled and corrected. well over/under corrected. next adjustment and third shot was on target. put 4 more in the bullish area and from there i just started shooting. i need practice in my form, getting used to recoil. not bad. trigger control and breathing. i think i did ok. i was hitting to the leftish and really didnt correct that at all after the first volley. i just used the monopod and bipod and wished i had bags. it wasnt bad, i kept the + on the * as best as i could and still made no scope corrections and i kept it at 10x for all shooting. here is what i got.... starts at top left at 42g, goes down the line 0.2g at a time. didnt clean at all, only let it cool til warm to touch. look at the top target in the middle. its 43.6g. i swear i was on the center and i never hit the target. all in the space between the targets, lol. i couldnt have done that if i tried. shot the gong at 200 a bunch, i was smacking it, but after recoil i wasnt able to spot myself on it. sound difference under the muffs was noticible between a hit and miss though. so i banged away til i was out. and it was dark. got to use the lighted reticle. after i get a load ill test the scope more. didnt shoot 300 as i really didnt have a load or a way to get dope. but i will return
ok, can you ever manage the recoil enough to see your hits at 100? maybe a bag will be better and maybe my bipod was hopping like a low rider. i was grinning too much to do anything but load and shoot. ready for another 150 and the 300y target.
sobrbiker, i got it done man
