SubscribeAlliant isn’t shipping to the US for the foreseeable future due to raw material shortages.I just got a note from Midway today that RL26 has been discontinued.
RL 15.5 has been fairly available lately & it works well in 308 with 169gr+ and 6.5 CM with 130gr.The only Alliant Powder you may see available for the foreseeable future is RL15. Some of it is made in VA and is used in some military ammo like the garbage that is 118LR.
How's temp stability of the 15.5 compare to 16? I use RL16 in another cartridge but it's getting spendy, phew@357Max I like 15.5 a lot. I bought 56 pounds of it after my first 8lb jug. It's all I use in my 6 Dasher. Not sure if it will ever be made in the US though.
From my experience, 15.5 is very stable in a 6 Dasher. I've shot matches where it was 50 in the morning and 95 at the end of the match and I had maybe a few FPS difference at the end of the match. So the difference didn't matter. It is not like RL15 at all where in my 7.62x51 if I shoot my 118LR at 60F its 2660 FPS and at 95 it is 2740. 26" barrel. How's temp stability of the 15.5 compare to 16? Try 4831SC, I find it to be better in every way. I am getting similar velocities, great temp stability and excellent extreme spread. No offense at all, but I ignore any load data for RL26 these days. Those who have it are in good, and the rest of us have to make do
Im also running shorter barrels and the N565 is super slow, I gave up on it right away when it was running CM speeds.I have an 18 inch barrel, got some Peterson virgin brass to fire form. I decided to play with TAC since I only had 2 lbs of it. I chose 130gr TMK bullets and just plugged some data into Gordon's reloading tool. Picked a charge that was just under the warnings for close to max pressure and loaded 50 rounds. They shot excellent. 15 rounds less than 1 MOA and consistently with 5 shot groups. 2900+ FPS My plan was to use VVN565 with 140gr Sierra but if that fails I might have already stumbled upon a nice working round.
I’m shooting N565 with 156EOL in a 20” barrel. 58.5 grains = 2,825 fps.Im also running shorter barrels and the N565 is super slow, I gave up on it right away when it was running CM speeds.
Is this a SA? How long you loading the 58.5 156eol load?I’m shooting N565 with 156EOL in a 20” barrel. 58.5 grains = 2,825 fps.
N560 works great with lighter bullets.
Same rifle, 58.3 N560 with 140 elite got 2,980 fps
Helped my nephew.N165 works great.Used 140 and 135 hunting hybrids.57.2 with 140’s and 56.6.Speeds were 3000+ and 3100+ with 26” barrelAnyone tried any of the N100 series? Like N165 or N170?
Currently using H1000, but I was thinking about that or something like Ramshot Magnum for practice & plinking.
Yep.Is this a SA? How long you loading the 58.5 156eol load?
I was fire forming and breaking in barrel so I didn’t push the load to find pressure.
N560 sounds like it would be worth trying.I’m shooting N565 with 156EOL in a 20” barrel. 58.5 grains = 2,825 fps.

Yep. Used 58.3 N560 with a 140 elite hunter last fall, was 2,950 fpsN560 sounds like it would be worth trying.
That consistent with the speeds I'm seeing with 56.5 gr of H4831SC. Seems to be about the peak of what's to be expected with a 20" barrel and 140 gr bullets.Yep. Used 58.3 N560 with a 140 elite hunter last fall, was 2,950 fps
Again, it worked in my rifle, others might might want to work up to that.
