Hunting & Fishing Shot this hog over the weekend.

I don't recommend .223 for these things. 3 shots to take him down. Shot him on the run out of the truck at about 100 yards. Weighed somewhere around 250. Over 6' tall when I hung him up.

I agree, if you dont have the access for follow up shots or drop him on the first, we have lost many with the 223. switched up to AR10 and much better results. good work on your part, looks like a nasty critter. very nice!

I shot one 2 weeks ago between the eyes using 55 grain Winchester Ballistic Silver Tip ammunition. It blew a large chunk of bone off and ran off. We decided to track it the next day just to see the trauma. We followed a decent blood trail for about 1/2 mile until it crossed the property line. I'll stick to profile head shots or a larger caliber.

Nice pig. I wont take anything but head or spine(while head on) with my .223 on the big ones.
