Should brass scratches worry me?

I've got a fairly new rifle with a really tight chamber. I was ensuring proper seating of my bullets today by running them through my action, and they cycled out with noticeable scratches on the sides of the case.

This is once fired Lapua brass (same bolt gun), so I'm trying to figure out why the brass came out with scratches. Is it because the once fired brass is tighter in the chamber from fire-forming? Or is it perhaps because the chamber itself is so tight?

Re: Should brass scratches worry me?

Chamber's pretty clean, maybe not spotless, but it's a tactical rifle and presumably not meant to be kept sterile. I wouldn't think there'd be anything in the chamber strong enough to scratch a piece of brass. Still, I think it's just a cosmetic issue. At least I hope so... that's Lapua brass and I'd prefer to order them as rarely as possible.

Scratches more than likely coming from the feed rails. A little polishing with 400 wet/dry generally takes care of most of it.

Why were you just standing there, scratching your brass?

I typically scratch mine up some when loading the magazine.

Shallow scratches are no problem.

Gouges are a problem.
