i'm 6 months plus into my wait for a sico harvester and still thinking of what to buy next. i will target practice with the suppressor but i'm most interested in hunting with it. i have the opportunity to pick up a tbac ultra 7 cb for just under $1k in stock and start waiting again. the tbac was high on my list initially but i passed it over due to no 1/2-28 threads, confusing weights on direct thread vs CB mount and none in stock. i'm always interested in going shorter and lighter for hunting but want to keep the decibels down.

having never shot suppressed and still waiting on my harvester, would this ultra 7 just duplicate the harvester i have coming in or replace it?

nothing custom

hunting:
tikka 6.5cm, kimber hunter pro 6.5cm, fierce fury 7mm mag

target only:
savage 6.5cm fcp hs precision

You won’t regret the ultra 7.

I have one that I hunt with and my father in law has the SiCo Harvester and it’s nice as well. I prefer my ultra 7 but there isn’t anything wrong with the SiCo.

The more the merrier.

Just what the Banish 30 was made for. Use it in its 7" configuration for hunting (9 oz.), then when you want maximum sound suppression and recoil reduction for targets, screw the 2" extension holding 2 more baffles on (13 oz.). Top quality, great company.

Just buy whatever appeals to you the most. Until there’s a significant change in suppressor designs, they all basically do the same and sound the same. People try to sell you on whatever vudoo their design has that’s superior to everyone elses.

Especially for a bolt gun, you don’t even need to worry about bolt velocity/back pressure comparisons. From what I’ve seen, the thunderbeast cans are most known for repeatable and minimal to no zero shift with or without the suppressor. So if that’s what’s most important to you, then go with the ultra.

I know there’s a science to making suppressors, but everyone is mostly on the same playing field with material, testing and etc. There have been more advances with 22 rimfire cans than centerfire. Probably because the pressures are much less and you can expirement a little more because of it

Well, I did buy it. Currently sitting in jail, though my harvester was paroled last month.

Now I just need to find a way to attach the TBAC to 1/2 x 28

You got the CB version, correct?

Just go to TBAC’s site and order a brake/flash hider in 1/2-28 and call it done.

If I'm not mistaken the aperture is only for .223 and smaller for their 1/2-28. I'm liking the area 419 but for whatever reason TBAC is saying their suppressors can't run on a 30 cal adapted to a 1/2-28. They said 9/16 is the smallest thread they do.

You could just buy the 1/2x28 CB and then have a machine shop or good Smith bore it out.

This is what TBAC said
"We do not recommend 1/2x28 threads for any caliber larger than .224. The proper way to use a suppressor on a lightweight profile barrel is to have us rethread it in 9/16x24 and install one of our Face Mount CB Brakes that were specifically engineered for sporter weight profile barrels. This will provide you with a suppressor mounting interface that will hold up to the pressures generated with suppressor use."

Does that mean if I do use 1/2" it will fly off the end of the barrel? I'm sure it will work, just confused as to why they are so adamant about not using the half inch threads.

I use my TBAC on a variety of smaller diameter barrels. So easy to just send the stripped barreled action to TBAC and have them do the install. Their pricing is really in line with the market too.

When I talked to them, their issue was that if you fell with a suppressed rifle, or somehow smacked the can on a rifle rifle that didn't have enough steel between the thread root and the groove, you could potentially cause a fracture in that area. 1/2x28 on a .30 cal is getting pretty thin, but a 1/2x28 on a 6.5 has a similar root to groove thickness as a 9/16x24 on .308, which they're supposedly comfortable with.

Personally, my 6.5 Kimber Montana is threaded 1/2x28 and after over 1k rds, and hundreds of miles hiking, I've had no issues and would do it again. Having them thread your barrel and mount a 9/16x24 brake flush to the muzzle should also work fine.

The suppressor is a 30 cal but I'm shooting a 6.5cm and might put it on my 7mag one of these days. I let them know it was going on short barrel Tikka and kimber. Seems like there's a bit more meat on a 17" Kimber and a 20" Tikka than at the end of a factory length.

My Kimber is cut to 20", so I had to have Ecco Machine thread it and mount/machine a collar to create enough shoulder for the can to seat solidly. Same with my 18.5" X-Bolt with 5/8x24 threads, works well:

I usually use DT cans on my hunting rifles though, if you'll be using CB muzzle devices anyway, I don't really see a down side to just having TBAC thread your barrel and index the device to the muzzle. As long as you have enough barrel thickness for the 9/16x24 CB they offer (you're probably safe with the Tikka, but might well not have enough meat on the Kimber).

The only reason I have the CB model is that's what was in stock. I'm running DT on the harvester and do not shoot with a muzzle brake anymore for a few reasons. So, whatever I put the CB on it will have the suppressor with it. I guess the other option is to rockset the CB into the supressor
