Rifle Scopes Should I sell my Nightforce for a Bushnell HDMR?

Hello,

I love my NF 3.5x15 zerostop (not f1) MLR but I have been interested in the Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21x.

Would that be an upgrade in glass, features, and etc? I know I'll be getting extra magnification and the front focal plane.

Any type of input/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't been keeping up with the new releases. What is different between the two? Like what are the new features on the Gen 2?

I sold my 5.5-22 to get a HDMR, glad I did. Still got the F1 though.

For the most part the HDMR is about up there with NF, not quite but close. My 3 HDMR's have great glass. Been having POI shifts recently on one rifle. I hope it's not the HDMR. I'll find out soon.

I swapped out a total of 7 NXSs , 2 being F1s for HDMRs. Nary a regret. I've run them hard-from hunting to practice and competition. Not a problem to date.

Not saying anything bad about a Nightforce, I still think highly of them.

to answer a question with a question, Should you stop using condoms and slam your dick in a door before sex instead? If you were going to step up in glass, a NF F1 would be the first step followed by a USO, Steiner, Kahles, Premier, S&B etc. A Bushy is close but just not quite the same level, and lacking the zero stop, if you did want one wait for the Gen 2. Otherwise start looking at an F1 or a USO. Forgot to mention the Vortex Razor HD.

Cute post, but not entirely accurate. Having owned both I can say that USO does not have the glass quality of NF, at least not across the three scopes I compared.

Got rid of my Razor for a HDMR. Couldn't be happier.

Dan-

What kind of shooting do you ACTUALLY do or REALISTICLY plan to do with the scope? Are you really going to need the benefits of FFP? Generally, if you have to ask if you need FFP, then you probably do not need it. On the other hand, if you do need an FFP scope, then there is no question...you WILL be better served by the HDMR than an SFP NF.

I did... sold my NF and ended up with two HDMRs my only complaint with the HDMRS is the eye box at higher power eye relife can be a little PITA but not that bad. If the GEN1s are upgradeable I might send one in to try it out.
